need help in Vegas

I need help. I started my z-wave project when my Parkinson’s was less advanced. I’ve installed about 40 devices in my house. I have 4 GE advanced remote and Vera. The primary downstairs is one GE remote and the primary upstairs is another. I would like to be able to use vera, the GE remotes, a camera, sensors, and an IPhone or other to control, monitor and view. Is there anyone in Las Vegas, my home who can assist me or is there anyone who canwalk me throught it by phone, skype, ooVoo, or Ichat. Of course, I am willing to compensate such person for their time.

So I take it you have 2 Zwave networks? one upstairs and one downstairs?
Do you have a Vera yet?

I’ll be there in Jan for CES if that would help!

Yes, I have 2 z-wave networks, each with a GE remote has primary. All of my devices were on one network about 10 devices ago. I used one GE as primary and three as secondary and scattered them around the house. I would have them on one GE remote now, but I’ve been experimenting.

And yes, I have a Vera. I tried it on a few of the devices. That worked from my computer, but I couldn’t muddle through the wiki and the forum articles to figure out how to get the GE remotes to work with Vera. And I haven’t even started to set up motion sensors, door sensors, cameras, and an Iphone or other smart phone.

I’m wondering would just be easier to use and iPhone or other smart phone as a remote?would I be able to access lights and scenes with the smart phone? But then again, wouldn’t there be a delay of waiting for the smart phone to get on the web and then log in???

so, here’s my wish list:

  1. I could control at least 10 individual light switches with a remote (the GE allows 18)

  2. I could control two thermostats with one remote (GE allows one)

  3. I could control at least 9 individual light switches with a remote (the GE allows 18)

  4. I would like to be able to read the screen at night (the GE is not backlit)

  5. I would like to see who comes through my front gate on my computer or smartphone

  6. I would like to be able to use some sort of panic button that I can carry with me in case of a fall or other accident.

  7. I would like to be able to replace a device or add a device can do whatever reprogramming as necessary in Vera and the remotes in 30 minutes or less.

  8. I would like to be able to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to navigate to the scenes on the web and activate them or deactivate. I rarely use the keyboard now. I think if I could get the other things to work, I could make the voice recognition software do what I want it to do.

I was hoping to get this accomplished before January. I started working on the system last December and would like to get it done as soon as possible.

Well I use the Ge remotes so I know how to work them.
The big problem is do you wish to hastle to start over.
What i like to do is start from scratch and add the Ge remote first. The Ge remote becomes an inclusionary remote and you just use the GE to install all the other devices as you walk around the home. you leave the dongle in Vera.

I can help you with this if you like on the phone or will that be troublesome for you.

If that is the case do you have someone who can walk through it with me?

that would be great. From the midafternoon on, I , have more trouble moving and concentrating. However, I’m usually up between 530 and 6 AM. That’s Pacific time and I should be good until noon or 1 PM maybe 2 PM

You should remove your number and email… not a good Idea to make public.
use PM for personal info.
