Hi, I am new to the mi casa verde and I have a new to me home. The home came with the DSC PK5508 security system installed. I want to configure my mi casa to self monitor. I have done some googling and have not found the solution. Has anyone else configured there mi casa to monitor the DSC PK 5508.
Thanks for your help,
Diana
I’m new to this too, but I do know that is just the keypad. You need to locate the control panel for the alarm. Look around in the basement and closets. If you find it, get the model number of that and search the forum for it. There are many people here that will be able to help you out.
Seeing that your keypad only supports 8 zones, there is a good chance that your panel is a 1404, which I am unsure if the DSC plug-in supports (1404 is a Power Series board, so it MIGHT be supported). If it turns out that it is a 1616, 1832, or 1864, the DSC plug in supports these panels. You will be required to purchase an IT-100 serial interface with either a serial-to-usb adapter supported by Vera (see the wiki for compatible adapters) and plug it into the USB port of your Vera, or a serial-to-Ethernet adapter (wiznet) and plug it into your router or Vera 3 if you are using it as a router. Alternately, you could also purchase an EVL-3 Ethernet interface and plug it into your router/Vera.
See this page for decent instructions: DSC Alarm Panel
Also check this board out. It should cover most of the questions you should have about installation: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/board,44.0.html
Good Luck!

I highly recommend the Envisalink if it works with your panel. You can set it up to email or text you notifications from your alarm. I’ve been very happy with mine and it integrates very well with Vera using the plugin that Vodden mentioned, I have all 20 of my sensors showing up on the Vera. I use them to trigger scenes to tell me if any of the entry doors have been left open.

+1
I also chose the EVL-3 for simple interface and alerts, it is an excellent piece of kit.
I confirmed I have a PC1616. Do I have to buy both the DSC IT-100
and Home Security Store | The Best Home Security Systems
or does the envisalink do the job of the DSC IT-100?
Thank you
You can use one or the other to interface with Vera. Both are not required
