Need advice on a motion sensor

Heres what I am looking for.

I want to put a motion on the second floor to trigger the lights in the hallway and bathroom at night.

What is needs is light sensor so it only goes off at night and as well be pet immune… for a big dog 50-70lbs. The dog sometimes wanders at night so I don’t want her to set it off while we are sleeping. humid and temperature sensor would be a bonus.

Thanks

I don’t think you should can have something that will not trip for that large of a dog.

Perhaps keeping the IR beam up high is all I can recommend.

Can you aim the sensor so it clears the height of a dog?

Some allow that or I just install it at an angle.

This means that only tall people, and not children, will be able to trip it.

I would think the 70lb dog would prevent anyone from moving around at night!

you can also try to put it on or slightly above a shelf. That shelf then creates a plane; below which the sensor cannot ‘see’.

Because of the height of the device, it makes sense that the further back on the shelf, the further into the room that plane maintains its height.

you can experiment with a piece of cardboard, one large dog and some doggie treats.

Or just make one of your kids crawl around the floor. Tell them it’s a game called “Let’s test Vera”
