My project step by step, please help

Hi every body,

I am new to this forum and I hope that I will get the help I need.

I Just bout Vera box, European version, with ACT wall mount switch and lamp modules.

Now I am testing ZRP210, but I could not make Vera dongle to include it, I have tried turning it of and on, and hold the button for a while but no luck, I dongle keep blinking in ( INCLUDE ) mode, but never get the device and turn into sweet sold blue.

I have another issue with wiring ZRW230, but I will leave it until I could at least test one lamp module.

Your help and comments are really appreciated.

Question: Did you have a lamp plugged into the ZRP210, and was the lamp turned on?

Also, You could try doing a factory reset to the lamp module and then try again.

Yes it was on, but I couldn’t make the dongle see it!

No I didn’t, and I didn’t try to do so. I just got it out of the box, but no luck.

I will see how I can reset it, if you have any information about it please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried to explicitly EXCLUDE the lamp module from the network first? I have found that to be necessary with virtually every zwave device I install - excluding it first clears its association with any prior network and frees it up to be included with your network.

I agree with slackner - my experience is that you first have to “exclude” the z-wave module before you can add it:

ditto, even with brand new components

Thanks pgrover and yovinman, I will try this now, then I’ll let you know.

Hi, this what I did:

  • plug ZRP210 into electrical outlet.

  • plug my monitor power cable into ZRP210.

  • Press and hold the button on black dongle for 3 seconds, until the blue light start blinking fast. ( Reset mode)

  • Press the button on ZRP210, to turn it on. ( my screen turned on )

  • Press the button again on ZRP210, to turn it off. ( my screen turned off)

  • Black dongle is off, press the button one time, blue light is blinking slowly. ( include mode )

  • Press the button on ZRP210, to turn it on. ( my screen turned on )

  • Black dongle keep blinking slowly until turned of by it self, without getting solid blue light.

Note: all ready tried it with 2 ZRP210 lamp module, but no luck.

Update:

ZRP210 has turned off by it self, then started again after about 60 seconds, is that normal ?!

Note: it is not assign to any network.

did the dongle go solid blue for ~3 seconds when you tried to exclude it? If not then try again.

also on the shutting itself off- without looking it up- is that module an appliance module or a dimmer module? Plugging a monitor into a dimmer module might make problems. Could be the monitor draws more than the 300w those are typically rated for so it’s tripping some internal circuit breaker or something.

sounds like you are excluding and re-adding in one step, I’m not sure if that works (maybe someone else can comment here?), I always exclude, replace the dongle in vera, let it update, then remove it and re-add

you CAN exclude and then re-add all at once. I just switched from another system to MCV and i did it with about ~7 devices.

You just have to make sure the dongle goes solid blue for ~3 seconds during the exclude step.

First you hold the button till it gives fast blink for exclude mode.

then you hit the button on the device you want to exclude.

The dongle should go solid blue for ~3 seconds to confirm it excluded properly.

Then you tap the dongle button to turn the dongle off.

then you tap the button to turn it back on to slow blink in add mode.

hit the button on the device

the dongle should go solid blue to confirm.

you can turn the dongle on in either mode and back off again repeatedly to do a few devices at once.

then you just head back to the Vea and plug it in and all is well.

the little dongle ROCKS compared to the old system i had.

I’ve followed the exact same steps as @abuzaaky. I get no confirmation of removal and they sure don’t get added either.

The blue light never turns solid.

I am holding the dongle inches away from my devices when I attempt this.

I have tried connecting the HA01, HA06, and RF9534 and so far nada.

I had ONE act brand switch that did that (the other 3 were fine, and my intermatic stuff was fine) when i changed from my old controller to the vera.

I had to shut the breaker off to the switch and then turn it back on. Then I did the exclude and include as above and it worked.

But seems fishy that you would have a problem with THREE items.

maybe there’s some diagnostics they can run on your dongle?

Gosh, I hope so. I’m an applications developer and I look forward to contributing some cool solutions once I get going. MCV is supposedly evaluating an idea I have for Voice Control. Can’t wait to test it! Maybe I should submit another trouble ticket tonight and see if they can remotely diagnose it as you suggest.

If I only I could get at least 1 device paired :stuck_out_tongue:

No it did not, I have tried all possible scenarios, to include and exclude but still nothing.

Regarding turning of by it self, one of the devices did that but the other did not.

I have tried both scenarios, but still nothing

Hi, so that make us two, i feel that we are missing something!

Hi, can you tell me exactly how to shut the breaker off and on? do you mean pressing the switch button?!

I really thinking now that there is something wrong with my dongle either software ( firmware ) or hardware!

There is a reset button on the dongle but I don’t know what it dose exactly, I will do my searches and try my best.
