Now I ave a few devices controlled by Vera I thought it would be nice to play with sensor based control. I would like to get a multi sensor and wanted to ask what peoples recommendation were. I found the Aeon 4 in 1 sensore, bit have no idea if its a good sensor pack or good value for money.
This sensor has its issues, particularly with respect to configuration difficulties and relatively poor battery life. Have you looked at the Fibaro multisensor? It doesn’t have humidity, though (although it substitutes vibration, instead.) It depends what your really after. Netatmo is another, albeit expensive, choice which can be integrated with Vera, but doesn’t have PIR, but does have CO[sub]2[/sub] and noise, in addition to temperature and humidity.
col8eral, bascially, you’re not going to get a good answer. Dozens of us have tried different sensors (search the forums here), and the consensus seems to be there is no dominant “good” (right combination of price, features, battery life, ease of use, programming, etc) z-wave sensor on the market right now. It depends on one’s particular use case and budget.
For what it is worth: I’m quite happy with the fibaro motion sensors. You will need to get the latest firmware from Vera and version 2.6 of the sensor but then they actually work really well (except the vibration sensor part).

Thanks Guys. My particular application is to place in a garage. I wanted PIR for movement alerts for an alarm and for keeping the lights if theres movement. Then I wanted temperature and humidity to switch a dehumidifier on and off.
I also have the Aeon and powered via a 5v USB power adapter it works really well

Yes, I think this is your only option if you want all the sensors in one package.
Yup, if you want humidity, temp and PIR in one sensor, Aeon is the only choice at the moment.
Look at the arduino part of the forum. I decided to start building my own sensors and have made a few multi sensors for my needs. They work very well, are cheap and easy to build. I have a few aeon sensors and they do work but battery only last about 4 months. I will only do arduino now.
I think building your own sensors is awesome, the only problem is if these things will be visible, and the aesthetics and the WAF. For other applications where they won’t be visible it makes total sense.
Valid point and I have been working to build them so that they blend in. For the garage like his example I bought a small plastic box that hides everything and it’s mounted to the ceiling. It has motion and temp and works very well and you don’t notice it unless your looking for it.

Sounds good, yeah, the garage is an easy use case. Livingroom or kitchen might be harder for the WAF.
I’ve had a positive experience with the Aeons using USB power and my Vera Lite. I’ve not tried running on batteries so cannot comment on their longevity. With regards to the Aeons the only weirdness I’ve spotted is that occasionally the brightness / lux sensor reads zero when it should return a real value. But other than that they’re very good and I’d recommend them.
The following are motion sensors, not multisensors - but for what it’s worth I also use Everspring SP814 sensors in low-traffic areas (on battery power). They’re fine. I’ve also had Z-Wave Vision Motion Detector sensors - and they were utter rubbish. I had to return those (I bought 2) because they just didn’t work, the things just wouldn’t ever wake up or react to motion.
