I’m trying to work my way through the existing documentation, however I’m a bit confused. How do I most effectively use vera to achieve the following?
Use case 1:
Person enters the room (floor in my house) and vera to turns on the lights and set the temperature on the thermostat to (for instance 70 degrees).
use-case 1b:
Vera only does this if it’s cold outside (less than 55 degrees, can be measured using the weather plugin) and it’s dark (before sunrise or after sunset?) (requires a lua scene?)
use case 1c:
and the lights haven’t been dimmed because the user is watching a movie (suppose this would require some sort of global variable being set and checked against?)
Use case 2:
If no human have been in the room for X minutes (say, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or whatever), turn the lights off and then lower the temperature.
I’ve got a ZIR000 (and a CA9000), a dimmer switch for the lights and a z-wave thermostat installed and configured.
Just an FYI, with .979 the > TEMP <TEMP controls are not working properly. I have a fan to turn on and off based on temps and its just downright broken. This is a major pain, one of the main reasons the 3-in-1 is such an appealing device.
This can be done with some custom code, I found some code here that ignores the scene unless my motion sensor see’s ZERO light levels. You can use this same code to ignore based on temp, but again, this temp stuff is broken, let’s get this fixed MCV, big priority!
I’m using this to turn on the heat before I get home from work. Basically it checks if the temp is over X and if its not then it runs the rest of the scene (in my case turn on heat and set tstat to X temp)
Im trying this with my 3-in-1 sensor and have tried both Celcius and Farenheit and neither works. Seems that it’s totally hit or miss, sometimes the fan goes on and sometimes not. I’ve copied the exact code and changed the device # and temps, but it just doesnt work.
MCV, How about just fixing this in the GUI so we don’t have to mess with code that doesnt work either???
Does ANYONE have this working with a 3-in-1 motion sensor with Temp? I’d also like to use the Fortrezz water and freeze alert.
I assume when the code is correct, I can try and hit the “GO” button on the scene and if the temp is not correct, the scene won’t run?
Paste some code examples and more info if you can, Im getting totally frustrated with this…it just should be easy to do!!!
Have there been any updates on this, or are there any workarounds? I’m having the same problem where I tried creating a scene to turn a fan on/off based on the temperature, and it is completely unreliable.
