Motion sensors not being created and other camera issues

I am quite frustrated with the camera side of veralite; it just seems half baked or at least lacking in meaningful error feedback or guideposts. And at the moment I have tried so many different methods and am blearyeyed from repeatedly scanning the forums for solutions that it is hard to categorize the issues. I assume there is something fundamental I am doing wrong, but so far I have had very limited success with solutions.

I have several camera options, foscam, Esky, blueiris, winxpcam. The foscam being the most generic, I have focused on getting them to work first.

  1. The menu based add camera is rarely successful and only via Manually Add. Most cameras I have had to use the Create Device under the Develop Apps menu. I can copy a url from my browser with the relevant jpg and vera still will not display it (winxpcam, blueiris, esky).

  2. Cameras I have added will show a picture in different contexts. As in using the cp.mios.com or local vera ip or VeraMobile on android (inside and outside the network) will often show an image one time and not another.

  3. Motion sensors are not reliably created. I have just manually created two foscam cameras. The motion sensors will not create. ConfiguredMD is -1. The I_FoscamPTZ.xml file is in the advanced settings. Yet when I try to delete that setting (blank it out), save, and reload it, in an attempt to restimulate the motion detector creation, it always returns as if I had not changed the field.

  4. Those which are created often do not work without any kind of feedback. Once I created a scene which turned on a light when a foscam motion sensor tripped. That scene worked great for a few weeks, quit and has never started working again, even after restoring to a backup during a time when it did.

  5. I have not been able to find log files in the menus which may give me a clue as to what the problem may be.

  6. I have set my vera back to factory defaults with the hope that everything would work, but no joy.

Can anyone shed some light for me on these issues?

Set ConfiguredMD from -1 to 0 and save and the motion detector will pop up (should). I just had the same issue myself and spent over an hour adding and removing the cameras and plugin until I found out that’s all I needed.

Thank you! that was a crucial bit of information and enabled me to get the motion sensors created. They don’t appear to work as in I have not been able to get one to trip, but they are created.

Does anyone have any information on what the possible states of ConfigureMD are and what they mean?

All-

I have 3 FI9810s and I have had no problems configuring the camera or the motion detector. For all of these cameras the ConfiguredMD=2. The motion detctor and camera work very well.

I had the same issue. When I installed (4) Foscam camera’s on my Vera at home It worked and I had motion sensors. About a week ago I got a Vera for my dad’s condo and one for his wifes office, both have Foscam cameras and for both of them the “add ip camera” option in Vera did not add the motion sensors, I had to go in and set the ConfigureMD to to 0 and it created the motion sensors. Something must have changed in the latest version because this use to work.

I am having the same problem, when I change the configuremd to 0 it does create the motion sensor but the arm and bypass buttons don’t work, so they are basically always on. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am actually having a similar issue. I can easily arm it via the device screen manually or via scene or via the advanced by choosing “SetArmed”, but selecting bypass doesn’t really bypass it unless you click on it manually on the devices screen.

My issue is a little detailed and a new one on it’s own so I have opted to start a new topic about it as I am sure I’m not the only one who have experienced. It would be helpful to have a topic title it better relates to and keep this one on track to where it was orig headed :wink:

Where is this MD field I didn’t see it. I have the options for motion sensor but even when I tell the camera to take a photo when motion sensor a is tripped it doesn’t do it. I walk right past my sensor and I do not get an image (via webcam Dropbox uploader and pushover, but it does take a photo when I edit the camera in Vera

So i recently upgraded my firmware from 11.37.2.51 to 11.37.2.54 and now it does not connect to the wireless. I have reset the device, reset it up while it was plugged in, gave it a static. I unplug the device from the network and it does not get on the network via Wi-Fi. Anyone else have this issue?

The new firmware encrypts the password to fix a big security hole. There is a thread on it with the fix. I don’t have the time right now to find it but if you search you should find it easily enough.
