Just got my Vera Lite a few days a ago and had a few speed bumps but have it up and working with 3 GE light switches, 1 GE outdoor outlet, 2 Monoprice door sensors and currently one Monoprice Motion sensor. Waiting on two additional Monoprice Motion sensors.
The Vera Lite is updated to the latest firmware for UI7 and I can access from my Android phone fine.
I have tried following the iDoorContact instructions but the sub-device that is created for the temperature just shows 0 all the time.
In the Motion Sensor device Advanced options I definitely see the temperature being reported and it is different over time so the temp sensor is present and accounted for.
Has anyone else gotten this working with the latest firmware / UI7? If so did you have to do anything differently from what is described for the iDoorContact plug in instructions?
Update, earlier today when I was looking at the sub-device it was still reporting a temp of 0.
But this evening it is now reporting the temp from the first motion sensor.
So since I received my next two motion sensors I was going to try and add temp reporting via iDoorContact to each of them.
But I’m not seeing any place to do that. I thought when I first installed iDoorContact that there was an option to add additional sub-devices so they could be used with additional sensors.
Or am I thinking about some other application and just thought that I remembered such an option?
How would I go about adding another motion sensor temperature sub-device using iDoorContact?
You are lucky, because I just figured this out. Where it says to put the ID (in the iDoorContact field), you have to put a comma delimited list of IDs. Really wish the wiki would just say this.
just curious (a bit off topic sorry)
how are your monoprice motion sensors working?
I installed one in my basement, and i don’t feel it has good range. i installed it up high and angled down (so it would cover the doorway) and i have to walk half way in the room before it goes off.
Ah I see. I found it now. For some reason when I try to click on the device buttons for Additional Temperature Device (“Settings”, “Advanced”, “Device Options”) the page goes blank rather than showing me those options. Any experience with that issue? Thank you for your help with the app name issue! I was getting frustrated and that resolved my issue.
My only suggestion would be to do the Vera 2 step. “reload” twice and refresh your browser twice. Of couse I am on UI5. If you are on UI7, I can’t be of much help as I’m not even sure this plugin works on UI7.
After first installing the plugin, there was no box available in the variables section, to add the device numbers. I checked back again about five minutes later, and that section now had a box available for the device ID, as described on the wiki.
I’ve found that for many devices and plugins, patience is a virtue, since they often take a while to fully finish loading on the Vera UI after first being installed.
After that, I was able to create a new temperature device with the plugin. The key is to not give up too soon if it doesn’t look like it’s working!
Did anyone else have trouble getting the Monoprice sensors to get included with Vera Lite? I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong, every other device pairs instantly but I’m on my third sensor that I can’t get to pair! Help!
