I bought two Model # RZCS1-1LX Leviton Vizia RF 1-Scene In-Wall Controller off of MCV website. I can’t get the dongle to recognize them. When you push the rocker, the dongle blinks for a sec but never goes solid and when plugged back in to Vera it’s not on the list.
Interestingly, the dongle will go solid when the controller is reset.
I can’t find any reference to this scene controller in these forums. And I have emailed MCV several times with no response.
Try removing the device from the network before you try including it again… I had to do this with my brand new lock and thermos. With Vera2 you need to hold down the Zwave button or 5 seconds to get the zwave light to flash fast, and then go to the device and perform the include/exclude action.
With the Vera Dongle, I will defer to those in the community who have that since I am only experience on Vera2.
Blade is right. But if you’re still having trouble after excluding it, you could perform the exclude, then do a factory reset to the controller switch then try to include it.
Are you also new to Vera? Do you have an EU dongle? That stumped me for a bit, wouldn’t connect to anything. Once I got the new dongle it worked well with everything.
I had to delete a few devices first, too.
And then there were the rip-of Cooper Dimmers that were repackaged and came with the wrong instructions (and didn’t work with zwave) that I ordered from zwaveproducts.com - never, ever work with those clowns - they will rip you off big time!
I have lots of devices on my Vera. This is my first scene controller. It resets fine but I have never been able to get it to add to the dongle, let alone Vera. When I try to add it, the dongle just blinks for a second but doesn’t turns solid. When I plug the dongle into the Vera, the device is not there.
Again, if the dongle is in reset mode, it will turn solid indicating it resets, so I know the dongle sees the controller, it just won’t add to the dongle.
One thing to check: With controllers you have to turn the dongle off (no blinking) and then put the controller in pairing mode, then push the dongle button to put the dongle into pairing mode.
I tried that just now… I held down the controller until the light turned solid green, then turned the dongle on next to it. Then hit the controller again. No solid blue light.
Programming or pairing mode is amber. Press the top of the switch until a click is heard, wait 5 seconds, then press the bottom back in and hold until the LED is amber. Then hit the button on the dongle to turn on pairing mode. Hope this helps.
Okay… I feel like I’m making progress. I got the controller to blink amber. But when I turn on the dongle it starts flashing slowly but when it senses the controller it starts flashing fast like reset mode. Still no solid blue and still dont see it on Vera when I plug dongle back in.
Yes, progress. The rapid flashing happens while the dongle is actually pairing. Controllers can take longer to pair than other devices. If you just wait and let the dongle flash rapidly for a longer time does it eventually stop flashing? It should. If not, you might want to do a factory reset to the controller (red LED - see instructions) and then start over again. If that doesn’t work, we’ve tapped out my experience. Good luck.
Okay, it took me a while to get back to this… But I am about 90% there I think. I got Vera to add the controller finally! I have a green cog. But when I try to get it to control a scene, no dice. I added an event to a scene that controls several lights (simple on). My scene controller only has one button so I entered “1” where it says “Which scene number”. When I hit the button, it turns green, but nothing happens. Thoughts?
Seems like you’ve done it right. If it doesn’t configure, I’d start over again - exclude, factory reset the switch, include, configure. I’ve attached a JPEG from one of mine…
Feinstag, for what it’s worth, I’ve installed five scene controllers, and every time it was hit-or-miss. I had to factory reset several times, un-pair and re-pair several times, and force a configuration several times, for each and every one. It’s mostly a game of patience. If you follow all the correct steps and actually get to the point where Vera recognizes the controller and you get a green cog, you should be good to go, even if the first attempt to add scene control doesn’t work. In that case, my only suggestion is to force the node to configure and try again. In my experience, the scene controller will eventually cooperate and accept the configuration and control your devices as desired.
I don’t have any one button scene controllers (I have three 4-button controller), but you might try scene “0” rather than one in vera. On a 4-button, each button is a scene, but there is also scene “0” which represents any button…or something like that.
I need help. For those of you that have them functioning, do the left and right toggles turn the scene and on/off? I have only one functioning and the toggle on works, but the toggle off does not function, so I can only turn on the scene but cannot turn it off. I have switched from ThinkEssentials and it worked with Leviton controllers easliy.
The left and right toggles are supposed to do that, but I have never gotten mine to work that way. In fact, I have three that I have in the wall, but don’t use anymore ($300 down the drain). I use standard z-wave switches in the scene to trigger other switches through Vera, or use a browser/iPhone interface to activate the scenes.
I tried a bunch of times to get them to work. At one point, the instructions were that the left toggle turned them on and was associated with buttons 1-4 in Vera, and pressing the right activated scene “0”, no matter which one was pressed. I forget where I read this, but I think it was in the Vera online doc. I found this troublesome, and almost useless. I do know that once you get scenes set-up in Vera for a scene controller, the commands are eventually loaded in the switch itself and no longer require Vera. My Vera was down for a couple weeks, but my scene controllers still worked when pressed.
