So, support was on my Vera Edge pretty much all day, and still couldn’t get my Leviton 1 button Scene controller to work.
But now, my Minimote, which USED to work, no longer does. I’ve deleted it, factory reset it, added it in, about 5 times now. When I assign a ‘short press’ button to a ‘scene on’, it doesn’t take. It shows up again in the interface, but doesn’t show up in the Scenes line on the interface, OR in the Advanced variables list. the ‘long press’ button presses for ‘scene off’ DO seem to take, so for now, I’ve assigned both the sort press and long press buttons to the same thing… So now I’ve got a long press on button 1 to turn all lights on, and a long press on button 2 to turn all lights off. A short press does noting (and correspondingly doesn’t show up in the advanced variables).
I’d try deleting it again. Then pull the power on the Vera. Power it back up and try again.
I’ve had weird things happen with minimotes myself. Manual Heal with stress test caused mine to remap the scenes to different buttons than originally programmed.
kirbyb did you get your working?
Here is what I do to enroll my (and yes wezley… I too discovered that heal is very bad on the minimotes, I had to unpair mine and start over after that).
To enroll your minimotes correctly… first make sure you are really close to your vera.
When adding the device use the “Handheld->Aeon Lab Key Fob”
When it tells you to press the button on the Key Fob, press the Learn button on the Minimote
The minimote will flash red and blue quickly and should settle on a steady blue, but the Vera will not say enroll successful. Just let the wizard count down to zero (the minimote might start flashing blue again while your waiting… just don’t touch anything… just wait).
Press Exit on the wizard once the count down gets to zero… do not press retry!
This should take you back to the device Screen with a Generic “MiniMote” listed under “No Room”
Go into the device and check the “select scenes for device buttons” menu
If 4 on buttons and 4 off buttons are listed… you are in luck… the enrollment worked.
If instead it says “how many buttons does your controller haver” well… unfortunately you are out of luck. UnPair and try again.
Going slow and letting the enrollment wizard time out is the trick. If you go in and try to edit the minimote too early Vera doesn’t sync all the right capabilities.
For any newbees reading this…
A short press on the remote activates the “on” scene
A long press on the remote activates the “off” scene
If your remote does not have the buttons numbers
Upper Left is 1, Upper Right is 2
Lower Left is 3, Lower Right is 4
Make sure you have updated your Minimote to the latest firmware before attempting any of this! You need a PC and the USB cable that came with the remote to do that and go to: Nano Mote Quad – Aeotec
My minimote pairs fine, and the 4 on and 4 off buttons are listed. But the 4 on button inputs no longer result in any scene variables being updated/created. For now I’ve got button 1 and 3 ‘off’ associated with scene all on, and buttons 2 and 4 associated with scene all off.
Come Monday I’ll do a factory reset and start over… 2 aeon repeaters, 2 aeon switches, 13 aeon dimmers, one leviton dimmer, and my stable of scene controllers. I had the mini 100% working, the Cooper 5 button 95% workings, and support working on the leviton scene controller, which was 5% working.
Does anyone have any “ssh into the device” debug info? I know how to ssh in, and understand Linux, but don’t understand the Vera architecture/design. Flailing around setting random variables is fine, but actual command line debug is what’s really needed.
I’ve got this problem now – none of my minimotes function properly. The scenes don’t match the buttons I had assigned to them anymore. I want to relate this issue with today’s firmware update, but I really can’t remember the last time I changed the assignment on a button.
I’ve tried factory resetting a minimote, unpair/delete, re-add, and all other suggestions here but still can’t get it to respond properly. The way it acts is like this:
Button 1 - controls scene assigned to button 1
Button 2 - controls scene assigned to button 1
Button 3 - controls scene assigned to button 2
Button 4 - controls scene assigned to button 2
I haven’t gone through and figured out the “off” buttons but I do know they have issues as well (I mean holding down 1-4).
Anybody else have any ideas? Any new issues like this for anybody else?
Happened to me with yesterday’s firmware.
Long press of button 1 should turn off lights, not raise blinds.
I think you will find all five of the Zwave checkboxes checked. The nightly “heal” has this effect. Most of us have turned this OFF. The IU7 firmware upgrade re-checked the box and performed a heal apparently…
“Under SETUP->Z-WAVE SETTINGS->OPTIONS, there are five checkboxes. The first two and last ones should be checked. Uncheck ‘Use Vera routing instead of Z-Wave (requires 4.5)’ and ‘Limit neighbors to Z-Wave discovery (requires Vera routing)’. Save any changes.”
I went ahead and unchecked the one item that did show checked but I still can’t seem to resolve the issue. I have tried various things but being new at this I guess I don’t know what to try next. I’ll keep guessing
I am currently trying to run a “heal” without the stress test to see if it “fixes” the minimotes.
Any other thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
Once the minimote gets in a bad state you have to delete it and read it. Delete the device and select unpair from the Vera. Then re-add it and reassign your scenes.
I did delete both of them and re-paired them, but it didn’t help. I don’t fully understand this “heal” process, it seems to be taking a while and also appears to be getting stuck here:
Heal Stage : Stage 5 of 7
ZWave : Configuring Z-Wave devices in your system.
I guess I’ll leave it for the night and see if it fixes itself. If the remotes still have the issue tomorrow I’ll delete and re-add them again to see if it helps.
I tried removing and re adding my one minimote and I am still getting the same wrong button assignment. The 2 nightly heals didn’t seem to change anything: I have the same button assignments and they are wrong. It worked the first time I set it up under 7.0.6 on my veralite then a nightly heal seem to have broken it. Now under 7.0.7 I decided to leave with the weird behavior and use only the 2 buttons which work.
I am a bit frustrated. I just ordered two minimotes off Amazon and they show up 1 day after the latest firmware update and now I can’t get them to work properly. Does Vera keep a number of devices known to have issues with firmware changes and do some testing with them? Seems not…
Equally frustrated here as well. I wish I never did the firmware upgrade, and this makes me really not want to push any further firmware upgrades in the future. Version 1.7.569 worked flawlessly for me; should have left it there.
Now all my remotes (minimotes + intermatics) have issues. Quite often the dashboard says “5 of your devices are not responding” and all the remotes are red. Clicking into any of them says the node is unreachable.
The remotes still do things, but it’s not what they used to do. They have basically turned into two button remotes and control scenes attached to buttons #1 and #3.
I have an email into support trying to get a link for version 1.7.569 for my veralite – if anybody has this link and is willing to PM or share here I think many would appreciate it.
I recommend it for those having issues with their minimotes. Also, I hope I’m not breaking any rules by posting that URL but if it helps many I’m willing to take that chance.
Moderators - if it’s against the rules to post that URL, please delete the URL but leave this post so others can open a support ticket with you to downgrade their firmware.
I tried all my old Minimote tricks. Every time a heal is done, my Minimotes lose their mind. Sometimes I forget and check the box, in this case MIOS checked the box, and did a heal as part of the update apparently.
Updated (again) the Minimote firmware to US_1_19
Reset the Minimote by holding down the “Learn” and “Include” buttons (on my Minimote, they are the blank button under the +DEVICE button, and JOIN buttons) until all lights are off
Add/Removed the Minimote device multiple times
No love; it looks like the UI7 update finally found a way to kill my three Minimotes. I submitted a support request as a “hail mary”…
As I mentioned, I tried most if not all of those steps to try and repair and the only solution for me was to downgrade back to 1.7.569 on my unit. Once I did that everything went back to normal and all the remotes work as intended.
