MiniMote loses configuration?

So, I understand that Vera puts the Minimote into some sort of alternate operation mode where it can discern the difference between a short and a long press. Somehow this configuration got lost on all of my minimotes over night, possibly during a network heal?

Is this expected during a heal or does it happen randomly?

I was able to get my config back by bringing the Minimotes close to Vera, holding button one down, and telling Vera to configure each Minimote node again. ???

Old topic I know but is exactly the same problem I am having now.

I have two Minimotes that were both working perfectly.

Overnight the button configs on both of them has been all screwed up despite the config / button to scene assignment in Vera still showing correctly.

I have removed both and went through the process of resetting them both and re-adding them / configuring them. All worked well initially then the config has again been screwed up.

I even have buttons executing scenes that that haven’t even had anything configured to them.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Is there an easy way to get the config back correctly again without having to remove and read the minimotes?

I have tried going in to each device and re-assigning the button / scene assignment, saving then exiting etc but nothing. I have also tried bringing the remote close to Vera as per the original post.

Anyone have any ideas?

I’ve had the same problem. I’m having to send them back. :frowning:
Any notice of a different remote that will work?

did you update to the latest firmware through usb on a pc ? http://aeotec.com/partner/z-wave-firmware/viewcategory/4-minimote

Mine was already the latest. I saw a post about making it the latest firmware if it was going to work with Vera, so I checked.

Both were updated during the initial configuration.

Both worked well initially then overnight they stopped working.

I have removed and re-added them and already one of them, the one that gets used the most, has already had its config screwed up again.

The buttons are still assigned - one still in its correct place - but the others are again all over the place :-/

mm… i think i seen this somewhere in the vera beta forum… last firmware for vera screws up the mini-mote. i dont have such device so i cannot help you with debugging/fixing it. did you made a support ticket for tech support allready ? perhaps they know how and what

Hi all,

I too have experience similar issues. My issue is that the minimote stops functioning correctly or on occasions stops working all together. when I look in Vera all is fine but I need to “configure now” several times to get everything running again.

The cause for this trouble seems to be either when the minimote runs out of battery or if I do a heal on the network from within vera.

I think problems may be solved if only the minimote were to wake up periodically; the wake up could also be used to report battery level - a must on all battery powered devices in my option.

so if any indication of a fix or alternate remote I am interested also as found this thread as a result of searching for examples of the same problems I have had.

Hi,
The same issue for me during a heal the configuration is lost, not every time. Recharged and upgraded to the latest firmware.
Thanks,
Neil

@Neilk - could you confirm your firmware and that it has in fact solved the issue? I thought I was on the latest minomote firmware?

Hi Comunity
From beginning i do have the same behaviour with mi Minimote.
All keys are strting the scenes correcttly after config, but for what ever reason, one day all keys are mixed up.
The first few times this happens, i deleted and completely reconfigured Minimote.
Today i only tried to “Reconfigure this Node now”. Pressing the “Learn” key on Minimote
After a few trials all keys are now fine again.
Vera still reports “failing purging associations” but this seems not to be a problem as i don’t have assosiations set.
Minimote FW is 1.17
I use Vera lite with a FW 1.5.622
May be, we all can get help with this behavior?
Thanks and regards, Paul

Hi Paul,

thanks for the update. I too agree this works however @NeilK was saying with his firmware such a action was not needed? if you could update us what firmware you are using @NeilK we could test also. many thanks.

Hi,
Sorry I have been away on holiday so I haven’t had a chance to respond. The problem has since reappeared, and is exactly as the others describe, so I guess I was just lucky before I went away that it seemed stable.
Thanks,
Neil

Hi all
I just realized, that after a heal not only Minimote but also ME.KFOB looses Configuration.
Same procedure also reconfigures KFOB.

  1. Cofigure Node right now.
  2. KFOB in Management Mode then pressing Key 3, (bottom left).
May be, this procedure muts be done several times during one config cycle.
I started again after the 3 blinks of LED on KFOB.

So, for me, seems to be a Vera Problem.

Up to now, i realized this problem only after a manualy started heal.

Have a nice weekend

Glad I’m not the only one - my minimote died a few weeks ago and my vera is inconveniently located, so I haven’t had a chance to fix it yet. I recall getting the minimote added in the first place was a pain, so I’ve been avoiding it… Luckily, the repair (“configure device” while clicking the learning button) worked.

This is still happening with 2 brand new minimotes (black and white models).

Works fine until the next random nightly heal when adding new devices. Only 1 or 2 scenes will work.

Latest firmware 1.18.

Reconfigure node in Vera and holding the learn button on the MiniMote works…but annoying the GF when it works 50% of the mornings to shutoff the alarm.

I’ve just had this happen to all of mine… was there a MiOS update that might have affected things?

I am running 1.17 firmware on the MiniMotes… can’t seem to download the right software to do this from the Aeotec site (on a PC)… am I missing something?

Once re added and all is working de select auto cofigure so Vera won’t try to configure it out of the mesh if it does an auto heal and it can’t be reached.

Thanks, I’ll try that!

Thanks @LightsOn, that made them work the whole week
