I have tried including a StellaZ radiator valve (I have 4 successfully included already). After it initially showed a thermostat device as it did with the others, on top i have this message : Zwave: Configuring ZWave devices, but that does not diappear, and it also does not finish configuring my StellaZ. Something must have gone wrong. Normally i just wake up the StellaZ a few times, press configure node, and it pulls in all the needed information and thats it. Now i am sort of stuck with this message and a incomplete inclusion. I have deleted the thermostat device now hoping the message would disappear, it didnt. In the log file i can see this:

Could it be an issue with Z-Wave range? You could try taking Vera closer to it to complete the configuration. If that doesn’t fix it, you may need to exclude and re-include it.
It is not an issue with the zwave range, other devices around it work fine. I have tried waking it up a few more times, and it has pulled in all of the information about the device which it had not done before. It has also created another 2 identical devices now… one showed unable to get any information on node, the other one was stuck on getting name. I have deleted them, but after a couple of reloads they have come up again. Annoying. I feel i am slowly getting there, but still the error message is still there. They are a bit of a bugger to exclude, so i will try getting rid of the message without excluding if i can… another thing i have seen in the log:
I have tried excluding it, it did not work. I have taken the Vera to the device, and no matter what i pressed Vera did not exclude it. Plugged Vera back in, and after the reboot the device is still there, and the message…
It is (was) not properly included, although manufacturer info is there, when i try to set up some device properties in PLEG it does not work, nor does it accept any setpoint change.
I thought if i restore from last nights backup, which is before the attempt to include the StellaZ, that message would disappear. It didnt. The thermostat device is gone now, but the Zwave: Configuring ZWave devices message is still there.
Not just the message. After a reload i have the 3 thermostat devices again… ???
Because its pulling the devices from the zwave chip. When you restore, you need to check restore zwave dongle. Also do not assume it’s not a range issue. Take Vera to the device and do an exclude than an include.
Your initial problem is almost certainly due to poor/no Z_Wave signal at the problematic device.
Restoring from backups will probably cause greater problems than it fixes.
You need to exclude the problematic thermostat. If you can’t get it to exclude form battery mode, you will need to get the Vera closer to it and do a full power exclude. The device will continually reappear until you exclude it successfully.
After successful exclude, reload Vera and then include it back. But, being a signal issue, you will probably be back to the beginning. At that point a heal might get you going. If not, you’ll need to add intermediate nodes.
After my last message one of the thermostat devices renamed itself to Rad Gym (which is what i had renamed it to before the restore). So i thought i’ll wait a little, manually wake it up a few times, see what happens.
It seems fully functional now, fully included, and the message is gone !!! Result. Just one (actually 2) little problems now.
How do i best get rid of the other 2 thermostat devices without them popping up again with every reload ?
I did try the myveraip:3480/data_request?id=device&action=delete&device=71, but that comes up with an error. If i delete them they come back.
Is there no other way ? I did try to exclude. I took my Vera to it (as i always do, for include or excludes), pressed the exclude button, had the fast flash, then pressed the buttons on the StellaZ which i used to include (there is just one button on it). Nothing. Vera keeps flashing. No matter how many times i pressed that button, Vera did not stop flashing. I know i tried a few weeks ago with another StellaZ which gave me problems, to exclude it, same problems. I think in the end i just deleted it but it did not come back. Not 100% sure as it was a while ago.
All problems solved. I kept deleting the unwanted devices. Once i deleted them as soon as they showed up, they did not come back. The message is gone too, and the thermostat is working fine.
I was lucky there, i really did not want to try another exclude and include on this. They arent the easiest including/excluding. That is one of the few downsides of the StellaZ. They can be a little tempramental to integrate. Once thats done they are great though.
And ugly.
