manual routing questions

Looks like the only place I can put the Vera in my house such that it reaches all the nodes is on my dining room table. That won’t fly.

So, apparently, the answer is that I have to start configuring manual routes. Clearly, the nodes aren’t finding each other by default or this would Just Work. (nice protocol). When I click on a wrench and then Settings, I see (for example) “Device #5” up top, and further down, the ID is 4. As far as I can tell, ID is always (Device - 1).

First question: which of those numbers need to be in the route?
Second question: it looks like the route is just a period-delimited list of nodes. Let’s say node A is the far node, node B is the intermediate, and the controller is C. I believe, then, what I need to do is enter a route of “B” (no quotes) in device A’s route. True? If not then what?
Third question: is this commonly necessary, or am I doing something else to get into this state?

This thread has some solutions for you I think:

Another option is adding an external antennae:

About $20.00 parts.
About 15 minutes … only need a drill bit to drill the right size hole through some plastic.
No soldering …

Double the range of your vera …

Void’s your warranty!

Very helpful! Thank you both.

Well. I added the manual route, saved the config.

And now every time I try to toggle the control on the UI, the LuaPnP app SIGABRTs and restarts (I am tailing the log file on the Vera).

I’m about at the end of my rope. This Vera software is among the worst crap I’ve ever seen. I’d be fired if I delivered software this bad at any point in my career.

I really appreciate all the help here on the forum–you guys are great. But this thing’s a pig.

Scholvin, I checked in our records and I don’t see any trouble ticket from your unit. Can you please open a ticket from your unit ( Account > Tech support ) so we can check it?

I’ll do that when I get home, Anne. From what I’m seeing on other threads, though, this is just how it works…
