Here is some of the wording from the Manage Delays when you create a scene.
“For example, when the scene starts it turns the living right light on, and after 1 minute it turns the living room light off and turns an accent light on instead.”
Can someone please tell me how you actually do this?
In UI5 scene editor, there is an orange pull-down which, if you have not set any delays, will show Immediate. The pull-down allows you to select one of your defined delays or the button marked Manage Delays which will allow you to set or edit one or more delay periods. Each period can have its own set of actions.
In UI7 scene editor, under Device Actions, there is a button for Add delayed action. This allows you to set a delay period for the subsequent actions. You can repeat the process to have multiple delayed actions.
Thank you very much for your reply. I am running UI15. So if I understand it correctlt when I set a delay (lets say 2 minutes) I can put a action to that delay. If I want a light to dim from 80 % to 20 % after 2 minutes, I would set the delay at 2 minutes and set the action to set the lights to 20% on the 2 minutes?
That is exactly correct. It is a simple way to implement short timing intervals. It is not so good for long periods because, if Vera restarts during the delay period, the subsequent actions will not happen.

do you think 4 hours fall into the category of…like you said “long periods”? sometimes my landscape lights turn off after 4 hours but most of the time they are on until 8 in the morning. so i disabled the scene
I would just create two different scenes vs doing a delay. One to turn them on and one to turn off. That timeframe ia long and if for some reason vera restarts (which does happen from time to time). Your lights won’t turn off as the delay is forgotten. But if you had a scene to turn it off this wouldn’t be an issue. Another option is the pleg plugin that does remember the delays no matter what but there is a learning curve if programing isn’t your cup of tea.
(1) ok i will create 2 scenes - i was just trying to avoid dashboard clutter.
(2) the delay in my porch light is only 150 minutes; turn off after 150 minutes. the light was on all night. this is a short period of time right? very frustrating.
(3)i agree with you PLEG is powerful but i have some difficulties doing it on my own. i have some PLEG running but just copied the triggers, inputs, conditions etc from this forum.
Two scenes is the more reliable way to do a long delay although my vera only reboots in the wee hours of the morning. Sunset is a great trigger for lights in the evening.
this is very frustrating. i created 2 simple scenes for my entry lights; one to turn them on 19 minutes after sunset and the other to turn them off at 1:55 a.m. sometimes the scenes work but most of the time they dont work. can you clue me in please. thanks.
