Hi,
I’m trying to develop some pieces of code to integrate my Vera Lite with a Karotz. To do the authentication piece, I need to sign and encode parameters sent through a GET query.

The signature needs to be HMAC-SHA1. Does anyone know if LuaCrypto is available on MiOS? If not, is there any chance to have the library included in next release of MiOS?

It isn’t. If you want it (I can see why it would be useful) raise a feature request at bugs.micasaverde.com.

@futzle: Thanks. I’ve just submitted one and I hope the feedback will be positive

@utz: I had found that but it appears that performance is not that good. I’ll use it until a better option is available.

There is a link as well where someone suggested some speed improvements. Anyway, I think to get good performance for bulk encryption Lua would not be the way to go (calling a c lib would be better then). Just for signing a few messages it might be ok.

On a side note, did anyone notice the new Nabaztag plugin in the app store? Is it related to this effort?

I’ve seen it but it does not fit my needs. I want the communication the other way around. On some events, the Vera would request the Karotz to speak (e.g. my front door is opened, as soon as the vera detects it, it request the Karotz to say something).
An option would have been to use pushing box but notifications are static. Another drawback is the use of an additional hop in the process.

I have a Generation one Nabaztag (impulse buy many years ago) that If it wasn’t for the fact it only supports WEP, I’d consider using it for something like this!

i rather have my 2-way audio on my voscam ip-cam working , but crypto is nice to have indeed. filed a request allready ?
the nabaztag / karotz thing is nice but its way overprized and doesnt work without there website online… if it ever goes down , the device is useless.

You’re right but I’m trying to get from them the documentation to talk to the Karotz directly, without going through the Internet.

I’ve submitted a request in the apps.mios.com section but I think I’ll do it in the main Vera section too.
Integration should not be too difficult I guess…
