I’ve been a lurker for quite a long time (probably around a year or so) and finally broke down and ordered my Vera 2 and a few GE dimmers today. I’m a bit confused about pricing differences on low voltage dimmers. My home theater room has 6 x 50w low voltage lights on one circuit. The installer believes that they use magnetic transformers. The current dimmer (not zwave) says it’s for "600 w max permanently installed incandescent). I’ve been looking at a few low voltage dimmers, and there seem to be a huge difference in price. Take for instance:

which is 38 bucks, where as others can cost an upwards of 125 bucks.

ZWave tax… The VPxxxx is the non-ZWave version, still in the Vizia line of “Look”. The VRxxxx that you initially linked is the Z-Wave version.

Normally it’s “Vizia RF+” (or similar), and it’s definitely an easy mistake to make.
Look for the “RF” bit, or eventually you’ll get used to their model # designations (for Leviton, etc), usually just in time for them to change them 8)
Leviton has two versions of Z-Wave - Vizia RF which was replaced in the summer of 2008 with Vizia RF+ - some of the differences between the 2 is the Vizia RF part #'s start with RZ and are 9.6k in speed - Vizia RF+ part #'s start with a VR and are 40K in speed.
Leviton makes 2 Low-Voltage Dimmers - the difference between the 2 is the type of transformers it will be controlling - the VRM10-1L is 1000 watt dimmer used with a low-voltage magnetic transformer - the VRE06-1L is a 600 watt dimmer used the electronic low-voltage transformer alway check the lighting you are looking to control for the transformer type.
