Looking for suggestions for remotely monitoring temp/humidity in a greenhouse

Here are the details, the greenhouse is about 120 ft away from my vera plus controller, which is in my house located near an exterior wall. I’m looking for the longest range device I can get to reliably monitor the temperature/humidity. I’m open to the idea of using some type of repeater system if required but the repeater if placed halfway would be outside as well. Any ideas on how to crack this problem?

Any mains powered device should act as a repeater. Are there any light switches, outlets, or anything between the Vera and greenhouse? Basically, just replace the device closest to the greenhouse with a Z-Wave device and hopefully you will be able to get the signal that far.

Probably look for a wifi device that interfaces with vera, not zwave. Perhaps a honeywell wifi thermostat. You may need a directional antenna on the house end.

I use these “Wireless Tags” https://www.mytaglist.com so it might be working looking into, though I do not have anything 120 feet away to confirm it will work at that range. They update my Vera with http calls.

Should be a lot of used Vera Lites on the market.
But one in your greenhouse coupled to your house via wifi.

According to Vera, the range over open air should be as much as 330 ft. Have you tried a sensor in the greenhouse to see if it works? Do you have power in the greenhouse? If so, do you know where the power line to it goes?

If you don’t have power out there, then the idea of putting a second Vera out there is a nonstarter, and you’ll have to just try a sensor and hope for the best. Maybe if you have a floor above where the Vera is, you can put an outlet/switch up there and take advantage of the extra elevation?

If you do, putting a Z-wave switch or outlet in the greenhouse should get you better reception than just the sensor because it’s possible the switch/outlet repeater can transmit at a higher power than the sensor.

Another option if you have power out there is to tap into it somewhere convenient and add a post with a z-wave outlet in a weather proof box. You’ll get repeater and a convenient outlet in your yard for whatever.

No Vera app, just http calls on the wireless tag side to run scenes or turn switches on/off or trip/untrip sensors or update variables on Vera.

What about a Mysensors Serial Gateway with antenna version- range is up to 1000m and a Sensebendr Micro (low power 2 x 1.5v battery operated temperature & humidity sensor) in your greenhouse.

Apparently battery will last a very long time.

Expensive, but a netetmo would be good for a greenhouse. CO2, temp, and humidity. Akbooer has a Vera plugin for it.
