I’m running Plugin 3.0 (from app store) and VA 3.02 on Android 4.04.
Android client says it cannot register (‘server responded with failure’). But I really don’t care about that anyway, as I just want to use it for local alerts. So I gave it a port, but it doesn’t seem to be listening. Is there a trick to turn on the listener?
Tests from Vera fail:
LAN: Error Connection Target:192.168.43.97:9260 Msg:test
I can’t telnet to :9260 either.
The Android app does see Vera, as it was able to determine its serial number.
Any ideas?
Also, what reason would it have for not registering? (Yes, Android has internet access and all that)
Your phone has to be on the Internet to register.
Did you click the Register button while on the Internet ?
After you set your LAN port … you will probably have to restart your phone.
Lol. Yes, there’s internet.
But back on the local LAN connectivity… I see that the LANService process is running (along with the main Vera Alerts and TTS processes), and LANService even spawns correctly if I kill it and change the port number. But I cannot get a connection to the specified port.
I even tried TCPSocket on the android itself, hitting both 192.168.x.x and 127.0.0.1, to no avail. I’ve tried a bunch of ports, on the odd chance that it was in use or something. Any way to determine if the listener is actually up? And on which port?
Seems like something is blocking connections to the Application:
If you can’t register … then GCM is being blocked …
The LAN Process will stop if there is any errors …
But it will send an Alert Locally first.
Local Errors are:
Vera Alerts LAN Network Invalid Port
or:
Vera Alerts LAN Network Error
If you have no alerts … then the LAN Process should be listening:
Are there ANY Application errors ? Any Crashes ?
Which Phone ? Which Provider ?
Do you have some sort of FireWall running on your Android ? Like DroidWall ?
