Hi, Any one has linked the ADT security system at States with Vera ? Is it possible for you to share the how-to details please.
First off ADT doesn’t make alarms or alarm panels. In order to “LINK” your alarm with vera you need to know what panel you have.
Second if you have ADT mointering it you may have a hard time connecting 3rd party devices (which are needed to link to vera). I’m sure it’s possible but…
Third alarm panels need to be setup to use the hardware to link it to vera. This requires some settings changes in the alarm. To make changes you need a master or installers code to do so. You may get lucky and it still default password but unlikely as its a security threat to leave it default. In order to get the password you need to talk to who installed it or monitors it. May or may not go so well.
Fourth many newer installed Alarms are not “Real” alarms and don’t have a panel or the option to connect it to vera. If you were to have ADT install an alarm today they would come out and bring a Piece of Sh*t all in one alarm that is a keypad, siren, battery, wireless hub all in one plastic keypad looking thing and double sided tape it to the wall above an outlet. Then they walk around the house and again double sided tape a sensor to each door and a motion on a wall. They walk out of your house 30min later with a unit that’s a plastic child’s toy hanging on a wall within 10 feet of the front door. Real alarms have keypads near the door but the main alarm is hidden far from that in a metal box with a key lock on it. The siren or sirens are in the attic or further away so they can’t be smashed or cut and they are as loud as a fire truck so the neighboors can hear not as loud as a smoke detector which is loud inside the house but not outside so other know. These panels also offer more versatility for add-on’s like what is needed to connect to vera.
If you have an alarm described above and monitored by ADT your probley not going to be able to do much with it in VERA. If you have no monitoring service then you may have more options but not if you don;t have a supported panel. You options maybe to keep the sensors but change out the main alarm panel and keypad if your not under contract with the provider.
We need more info first. Alarm you have and if you have a ADT contract.
ADT former parent company was Tyco and Tyco own DSC. ADT have speared off from Tyco a few years ago. Hence there was an alliance.
Therefore, there is a probability is maybe a DSC system; however, they did use other brands too…
If it is a DSC, this may assist you identify the panel,
Thank you very much @integlikewhoa. Your response was very informative and given lots of food for thought. I do have a dsc board elsewhere and is linked to Vera. As you clearly pointed out, the ‘ADT’ issue was not available there. This is entirely a new scene altogether. Thank you once again.

If the number 1 key has “off” on it, then its a Honeywell panel. Either way panels are not that expensive.
