Linear WD500 Dimmer & WT00z 3 way scene controller

I am very new to the zwave system and just bought a home and decided to make it smart. I decided to go with Vera. I installed recessed lighting and decided to do the linear wd500 dimmer switch and wanted a 3way switch so I went with the WT00z. I followed the steps found in this thread http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=25696.0

Seemed pretty easy enough. But what I am not sure about is how to get the wt00z (virtual 3 way switch) to turn on the lights. Problems or issues I am encountering:

  • The wt00z can dim or brighten lights ONLY when they are already on or activated from the WD500 or from the vera web interface.
  • when I dim the lights using the wt00z and bring it to its lowest level, the led light is still on at a very dim level but the web interface says it is 0% or off and I can no longer brighten the lights with the wt00z nor can i even turn the light off. I have to go back to the wd500 or the vera web interface to get control back.

It seems the wt00z accessory, virtual 3 way switch can only control the lights only when the lights are already on. Also, as mentioned in point 2, when the wt00z is used to dim the lights, by pressing and holding the down button, the vera system thinks the lights are off at 0% when in reality i can still see a bit of light coming from the led lights but at this point the wt00z thinks they are off so it can no longer control the lights.

Can anyone shed some light on this? (pun intended)

Thanks guys!

A single quick press and release(tap) is used on the WT00z-1 to to turn On or Off an associated device. After the light is On, holding the WT00Z-1 paddle will change the dim level.

Vera showing 0% when it should really be showing 1% is an unfortunate Vera “feature”. It does not affect normal operation.
