Linear Garage Door Opener

I am just getting started with home automation this week and I have about a dozen switches and a kwikset door lock working perfectly with my vera lite but I am scratching my head with a linear garage door opener. I have the opener paired with my vera and it is correctly reporting the door state (open/closed) and when I send a signal to open or close the door the unit flashes and beeps but nothing happens with the door. I have tried wiring it directly to the motor as well as in parallel with my button opener. I have tested touching two wires together to open and close the door so I know I am wiring it to the right place. I also tested the continuity of the linear with a multi meter and it is definitely closing the circuit when it should be but for some reason the door is completely unresponsive. The motor is a 3/4 HP craftsman, I am not sure of the model. Any ideas or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated, I am at my wits end.

What type of Garage door opener do you have? Newer ones, ie… Craftsman (aka Lift Master/Chamberlin) use digital vs Analog. Ie, I just went through this, made a video around it. [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8O8dq_-x2E&feature=youtu.be]- YouTube

The opener is at least 10 years old so definitely not digital, and as I had said in the post I tested by closing the circuit with just a wire and it worked. Thanks for that suggestion though as I know that it is a common mistake.

In case anyone else had this problem I spoke to the Linear (Nortek) tech support which is free for Amazon customers and the tech immediately solved the problem. I was using a liftmaster 398lm as my wall button. This “smart” controller shows the time and ambient temperature and draws a constant current from the button circuit. Apparently this confuses the GD007 and prevent it from working. Temporarily removing the 398lm solves the problem. Needless to say I will be getting a new button.
