A single license allows any combination of 4 PLEG or PLTS devices with unlimited inputs and conditions. It’s 5.95 per license/per Vera.
A license is tied to the VeraID and will only work for the VeraID that it was created for.
Vera Alerts is the only other of my existing plugins that is being licensed.
I will not be charging for a license for:
a) Day or Night … this is a convenience application that has no real intrinsic value.
b) Garage Door Plugin … I did not author this … I packaged the code and simplified the initialization to make it easier to use.
I have internal developments that I may release and that may have a license.
Email more details about your business and include your VeraIDs for your development machines.
The license is required for any Plugin greater than Version 4.5 and will go into effect on April 1.
The code was modified last November to enforce licensing. That is when version 4.5 was released.
Access to the license server is via versions 6.0+
I will document how to get a license on earlier versions …
It’s a couple of manual steps … that you have to get the right information together.
No where near as user friendly as Version 6.0

Thanks Richard. I sent you an email. Let me know if you need any more information.
I’m not sure if this is a glitch in my system or you did this on purpose for some reason.
I updated my PLEG and Core today so that I could easily register for some licenses. After update I opened the “Register” tab on one of my PLEG devices and it said:
“Your are registered. You have 14 license units. You are allowed a total of 56 PLEG and/or PLTS plugins.”
Anyway I had no problem registering and now it says:
“Your are registered. You have 3 license units. You are allowed a total of 12 PLEG and/or PLTS plugins.” Just like it is supposed to.
I just wanted to let you know in case you did something unintentionally to make the situation I had before registering.
I have the same thing going on. I bought a license a couple days ago and couldn’t add it in right away. Giving it a couple days I was going to do it this morning. No license added and same message as below.

I can’t believe I almost missed this entire topic. I guess I would have been here on April 1 looking for help.
Thanks Richard, I just started using pleg a few weeks ago and it has changed (in a positive way) my entire experience with vera.
I hope you don’t get discouraged when people get more demanding because they ‘paid’ for something and now it has more value.
I will be testing the licensing process as soon as I hit the post button and as many have said, thanks for giving me the opportunity to buy you a beer. I would buy you a scotch given the opportunity.
I guess I do have a question, is there another forum topic on the new licensing of veralerts that I need to be aware of? I’m guessing there is another licensing fee? I am mostly just trying to head off any unnecessary pain through a lack of awareness.
Hi Richard,
I recently got my Vera and installed the PLEG and CORE. Will my app stop working on April 1? I have not yet gotten very far as my time is limited. I would like to thank you for all your hard work.
Andy
On your first Vera Restart after Tue, 01 Apr 2014 20:00 GMT the license will be enforced.
There are 3 scenarios:
You are not licensed but you recently installed PLEG/PLTS/PLC
You can enjoy PLEG/PLTS for 30 days. During that time you will be limited to 3 PLEG or PLTS devices with unlimited inputs or conditions.
To restart your 30 day license … uninstall and re-install your PLEG/PLTS/PLC devices.
You are not licensed and you are past 30 days since you installed PLEG/PLTS or PLC plugins.
You will be limited to 3 PLEG or PLTS devices with a max of 5 inputs and 5 conditions for each PLEG or PLTS device.
You have purchased some licenses:
You will have unlimited inputs and conditions for 4 PLEG or PLTS devices for each license purchased.
The license duration is unlimited, but it will only work for the Vera that it was purchased for.
You can purchase up to 15 licenses.
Any PLEG or PLTS devices that exceeds the licensed limits will be disabled.
i am getting startup lua failed on all my pleg devices since yesterday. i have more than 4 plegs is this the problem. also noticed that my zwave light has been going out intermitently requiring a physical power reboot. not sure if thats related or not. any insight?
If you have a license installed … you will be limited to 4 PLEG or PLTS devices per license.
If you uninstall your license you can have unlimited PLEG or PLTS devices until April 1.
This should not effect the Z-Wave light. That must be a different problem.
i dont have a license install. did a backup restore and all is working for now. thanks for the reply. with a license will i have to always have to have an internet connection
No the license does not check the internet at run-time.
You need to internet to get a license. A license is unique to the particular Vera, It encodes the Vera ID, The purpose, and the License Count.
Firstly I’d like to add my appreciation for such a great plugin.
I have purchased two licenses for two vera 3’s that are bridged in both directions.
When I registered the first, the license applied to both sets of PLEGs (four on each) and verified correctly on the first vera.
But if I hit verify button on the second without changing the code it says Registration failed and blanks the code field. It does this also when I put the second code in (the one purchased for this Vera).
Could you please look into this and let me know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks,
John[/quote]
I posted this message on the March 1st and also sent an email back from the registration email, but I haven’t received a response to either.
I have still not managed to successfully verify the license I purchased for the second Vera, I ended up buying a second one for the first Vera and at least the messages saying I was using too many licenses have gone away.
In the status report on the second Vera it shows the license from the first:
Registration
You have 2 licenses, which allows for 8 PLEG and/or PLTS plugins.
Your license key is: $1$2MrSMUus$3RSFtBR/0Cu4QYYE45FO7X
This is the same as for the first Vera.
But if I try to verify the license I got for the second Vera I get this:
Registration: Failed
Demo evaluation period is: 56 days and 21 hours.Your are allowed a total of 3 PLEG and/or PLTS plugins.
Is this setup going to continue working after April 1 or is the second Vera going to stop working because it has the wrong key?
I have 2 licenses of PLEG, one for each Vera I use(1 for each). It’s setup in a master/slave configuration.
Can you prevent the single instance on PLEG slave from showing up on the Master (along with the 3 PLEG devices running on the master, for a total of 4)?
