I recently added a Leviton VRI06 and VP00R to my existing z-wave network (VeraLite). I have other VRI06s in my house, however this is the first one I’ve tried with a remote switch to enable 3-way switching.
Since installing, I’ve found some funny behaviour… They don’t seem to be working completely correctly every time. It often seems to take 2 presses before they activate (wake up?), and often don’t return to the prior dimming level, but instead brighten to 100%.
Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with the VP00R and if they’ve found them to be “stable”. I am going to test further tomorrow by removing the VP00R to see if I can isolate whether it is the VRI06 or VP00R.
I use the VP00R with one of my VRE06s in my house (My kitchen). The only odd behaviour that I have seen is that the LEDs don’t change on the VP00R (like I assume they should). I have a plan to actually completely re-wire my lights and those switches in my kitchen, so I haven’t been overly worried about it. I do not have the odd behaviour you are describing though.
I wish I could be more help, but I just wanted to let you know that.
The dimming thing should be a z-wave thing from what I read. That is to say that it is required by z-wave that it return to the last dimmed level. Do you have any scenes set up that might be changing the dim level? Also note that the VP00R is not z-wave, it’s just a remote for the VRI06. I would think (and I might be wrong) that if it doesn’t work, it might be the VRE06. Removing the VP00R from the equation is a very good first step to take though.
I have three circuits with VP00R’s (one per circuit) and they all work well… So well, I can’t actually remember which is the load controlling/ZWave end anymore (it’s been 3-4 yrs since I installed them). It took a while to work out how to wire them correctly during the initial setup.
Button presses at either end always restore to the last selected level. I don’t recall seeing anything whacky in the LEDs displayed.
Thanks for the replies… makes me think something is faulty. I’ll do further tests and report back.
My VP00R just never updates (it stays at the very far right). LIke I said though, I’m not 100% on the wiring, which is why I am going to re-wire all the lights in that area (And others in my house). They didn’t do proper 3way lighting schemes in my house so I’m iffy on the setup here.
Same experience as @guessed.
(Some VRI, VRM, VRE, with VP00R (with LEDs) in n-way. All works as you would expect.)
I have three setups with the 1000W version (VRI10-1LX) of the dimmer running with two remotes on each master. They have worked fine since day 1.
Its been awhile but I do know its important to know where line and load hot wires are in your boxes. The load hot must be connected to the master dimmer red wire and the line hot needs to be connected to the black of both the master and the remote dimmers. For non LED remotes the wiring is different. Maybe you’ve wired per the non LED remote and that is causing the strange behavior.
