Leviton Scene controllers do not work anymore?

I have two VRCZ1-1LZ Vizia RF scene controllers and a Vera Edge system with latest firmware. I’m able to successfully add them (and unpair). The interfaces all look plausable. There’s a separate ‘button’ choice for what to do when you turn the scene ‘on’, and a separate button choice for what to do when you deactivate the scene.

But none of the scenes that I can associate and try to activate with this one button scene controller work. There appears to be something fundamental with communication between scene controllers and an Edge. I do have an Aeon Labs Minimote working correctly, but any ‘hard-wired’ zone controllers refuse to work.

I have the same problem with a new Vera Edge running firmware 1.7.1089 (7.0.6). Tried both a VRCZ1-1LZ and a VRCS1-1LZ. Both pair, but will not trigger a scene (scene is a simple toggle of a GE 45609 switch). The VRSZ1 was working in UI5 (on a Vera2) when I set the trigger to button #255 to activate the scene.

In UI7, if I do the same thing (set to button #255) it won’t work with the main button, but if I click the dimmer up and down and then the main button, it will trigger the scene. If I use button #1 or #0, nothing happens. I remember the VRCZ1 was a tricky to get to work in UI5, so does anyone have any hints on how to get these single button scene controllers to work in UI7?
