Leviton Scene Controller Question

I have a few scenes that I would like to trigger with a in wall scene controller. In those locations I need a light switch as well. I was looking at the 4 zone and scene controllers by Leviton. Im not sure which to get. I dont need an on and off for the scenes. The types of scenes I want to run are a night scnene for bed time, a leaving scene for exiting the apartment and a welcome scene for coming home. What would you suggest I do. The other issue that I am having is that one of the locations I want to install one of these is a 3 way application. How would I go about doing that since these are single pole switches. Any ideas would be appreciated. Im looking to do this as soon as possible. Thank you.

Marco

If this is an apartment, I assume you can’t expand the gang box?

If you don’t need scene on/off, then the VRCS4-MRZ would work in most locations.

In locations where you want 3-way setup, those don’t work with VRCS4-MRZs. You could attempt to install a VRCS1, assuming you can get hot/neutral at the second location.

For the 3-way locations, you could also make only 1 location the actual switch (on/off/dimmer), and let the controller manage that switch, so it is no longer a 3-way. Again, that means you’d need hot/neutral at each location, and load at wherever the actual switch is. That may/may not be what you have in the apartment.

PurdueGuy,

what the difference between VRCS4-MRZ and VRCS4-M0Z ?

is VRCS4-MRZ capable to run a scene created on vera3 ?

thanks !!

I’m sure there’s various topics here where the difference is explained…

The -M0Z has no built-in switch that you can hook a device up to; it is just a scene controller. The -MRZ does have a built-in switch.

I recommend using the zone controller over the scene controller.
