Leviton DZR15 Sensing not working...

I have a GE 45606 or a 12721 (Can’t tell and they look to be the same). That works. I plug in a device that is “on”, but I turn the switch off. The device stays off. If I turn the zwave receptacle ‘on’, the device powers on.

Now, I plugin my device to my newly installed DZR15.
Device off. Receptacle off. → Device remains off. Good
Device on. Receptacle off. → My LED lamp flickers every few seconds.

I thought this is strange, so I went back to my GE outlet and it works as I would expect, no flicker.

I can’t find any information on a possible configuration option, so I figured I would ask her before I uninstall it and return it.

The DZR15-1LZ Receptacle has a feature Leviton calls local sensing, others call it load sensing. It passes a slight current, even when off so that when you pull the chain on your lamp, the receptacle turns on. Unfortunately for you, this small current charges and discharges the LED resulting in the flicker.

The GE receptacle lacks load sensing and is truly Off when switched off.

Edit: The load sensing feature may cause another issue beyond flickering. If the load of the LEDs is very low the receptacle may fail to turn On when you turn on the LED. Different bulbs may work.

Yeah, that makes sense. But, the GE module is load sensing in that it works with a lamp. In my case, I just swapped the two because I only need one of them to be a simple on/off, no load sensing.

If what you are saying is correct, it is the first I am hearing of it. I’ve tested the GE/Jasco 12721 and it does not have load sensing.

To be clear; load sensing turns On a receptacle that is Off, when the lamp is switched On at the lamp. For example, the lamp and the 12721 are both Off. Someone pulls the chain on the lamp and the 12721 turns On with the lamp.

The Leviton DZR15-1LZ does have Load Sensing.

Let me re-test today. Maybe I am confused and I don’t want to give anyone false hope…
