Lennox Split A/C & Heat Pump Control

Okay, I run a B&B and I have Lennox mini-split units, like [url=https://resources.lennox.com/FileUploads/37ae364e-a687-4250-87b9-7a0650ff1b31r33139-main-lg.png]https://resources.lennox.com/FileUploads/37ae364e-a687-4250-87b9-7a0650ff1b31r33139-main-lg.png[/url] but basically, the easiest way to control them is IR. For the guests, I normally give them a learning remote with a few set functions. What I want to do is set window sensors so that if they open a window, the A/C turns off. I was hoping that there is a Z-Wave (or Zigbee, or anything else that I can program) that I could use to turn off the AC unit if they open the window.

The window sensor part is easy. It’s the IR part that I don’t know how to do. Is there a commercial product that has a learning IR system that I could get? Another way I can control the A/C or prevent guests from having a window open and the A/C on? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

I also have the older Sensibo units on the AC. They can actually send IR codes, but because of the way that they programmed them, they toggle on/off… the learning remotes don’t. The code they send seems to have the full instructions on on/off plus settings in one.

To prevent the operation of the AC when a window is open is pretty simple. Just add a zwave control to disconnect power from either the indoor unit or the outdoor unit. There are switches that can control up to 40 amps. The one listed below will also report power usage in real time. Then add a scene to Vera that will turn off the switch whenever it senses that a window has been opened.

As for IR control. I prefer the products of Global Cache. They make units that are networked and can output IR signals that can be sent from Vera. From vera you output an http call to the Global Cache unit. This will also work with a scene from Vera to shut off the AC when a window has been opened.
