Kwikset smart lock

When I was setting up the Kwikset lock at the location it was to be used, all worked fine. When I traveled 300 miles away from where the lock is installed, I get a red light on the panal that shows it on “Mi casa Verde” and I get a message that says: “Failed at:Getting the Version”. Can someone explain what that message means? Thank you.

When Vera communicates with a device to poll it or configure it, Vera collects all the data from the device such as make, model, Z-Wave version, node ID, state…

When Vera reports that it is unable to collect information, such as your “Failed at:Getting the Version” it is almost always due to poor/no/intermittent communication between the Vera controller and the device node.

Hopefully for you, since you are so far away from the device, it is only an intermittent failure and that Vera will be able to reach the device at least occasionally. It is also possible that a manual or nightly network heal will establish a route of solid communication between Vera and your lock.

Thanks for you help. I’ll try it when I get to that location tomorrow. Another question: I have an Agasio A622W outside camera installed. I couldn’t get it to work so their Tech support remotely took control of my computer and got it to work. I have to access it with a different IP address when I am away from the location where the camera is installed.
It worked fine when I returned home, 300 miles from where the camera is installed, for about two days, and then my browser told me that it could not connect to the remote server. I don’t know why, because I know my Wi Fi works at the location the Agasio is… because I can control my lights and thermostat through Mi casa verde. I operate the Agasio outside the Mi Case network, because their tech support told me that if I pressed the “reset” button that is on the cameras ?Umbilical" cord, I would erase the ability to communicate with the camera, both remotely and when I’m on that site. Any suggestions?

Try what, the heal? Heals are performed automatically by Vera at around 1:00am and manually from the Vera UI. If a heal does not resolve your weak/intermittent communication problem, you will probably need another Z-Wave node between your lock and Vera to route the signal effectively. However, be sure to check that any intermediate nodes that you invest in or install support a Z-Wave feature called “beaming” which is required in order to route the encrypted messages used by locks.

As for the camera, I am unfamiliar with that brand and since you are using it outside of Vera, your question is somewhat outside the scope of this forum. However, your description sounds like you may not be aware of IP addressing concepts like private addresses, public addresses and dynamic addresses. I suspect that if you fully understand those three concepts, your camera issues will become clear to you.
