I have searched and read several threads but I can’t get the Pin Code Notification to work. I do get other notifications just fine.
when it asks for the PIN code INDEX number I have tried the actual 4 digit code, 1 and *. None of these have worked. I deleted all notifications then saved then went back in and tried again, still not working.
Once I hit save should the notification work or do I need to wait a certain amount of time before it works?
I really new to Vera, but if I understand your question you want to have the Vera notify you when certain events occur with the lock - correct?
I have a couple of Kwikset locks and I have it setup to notify me when certain events occur.
The first thing is you need to make sure the Vera is consistently communicating with the lock. If it is then the step I followed is as follows:
I went into the lock control, then notifications and selected “A PIN code is entered” from the drop down and put in the existing PIN code I setup previously that I wanted to be notified about.
The other thing that had to do is make sure that my e-mail and cell phone were setup correctly to send me a e-mail and text message when PIN X is entered into the lock. This is under ACCOUNT Email settings and Phone Settings. I have an account setup at micaseverde. You can also test your notification functionality from there as well.
If you don’t have or don’t want to setup an account, I believe there are ways to accomplish most of the functionality you can get with an account, but I haven’t looked into it yet as I wanted to get stuff up and running first, then start looking at the more complex aspects of the Vera.
Gordon, Yes I want to get notifications for pin codes entered. I have already did all that you suggested.
I did setup an account and also setup sms and email. I set the notification for a door is locked or unlocked and I get the notifications to my email and sms to my phone. If I try the pin code notification I don’t get an email or sms.
Soon as I created a Notification I would try it but it would not work. I gave up around 5pm. Around 9:30 pm it started working. I guess it needs time after you create the Notification before it starts working otherwise I have know idea what happened.
That sounds about right. I am guessing that it takes a while as the current configuration has to be updated for your account on the Micasaverde website.
I can’t tell you how long it took to propagate for mine as I set it up, but didn’t bother testing it, so the first time I received the notification was when someone actually entered the pin code to unlock the door.
Also, when you make changes to the Vera you may have to save prior to it updating your account, but I’m not sure. Like I said I’m really new to the whole Vera Z-Wave thing.
