So, I paired my Kwikset motorized deadbolt often enough with my Vera 2 that I’m aware of the issues: Apparently the encryption key exchanged by the lock and the Vera is so large that it can take half an hour to complete. While I got pretty good at doing this with the Vera 2, it’s failing on the Vera 3; it looks to me like it’s taking so long that the Vera essentially falls out of Z Wave pairing mode; the lock will eventually show up in Vera 3 but it’s got a notation “Z Wave device 3 failed to setup security. Exclude and…” rest of message doesn’t show up on the screen but presumably it suggests repairing, which I’ve done a number of times; i’ve also tried configuring the node through the dashboard which has no effect. Anybody got any guidance on this one?
I just paired 3 Kwickset locks without a problem, although I did have an issue the other week with a V2 with one lock and temporarily gave up! It had lowish batteries, and it has now paired fine a few days ago albeit with a fresh set of batteries and my V3!
Try replacing the batteries with fresh ones if you have spares, it wont harm!
Yup, new batteries. The issue appears to be: On the Vera 3, the ZWave light will go solid while the encryption code is being downloaded and there does not appear to be any indication when that process is complete; if you’re looking at the lights you may think you don’t need to save (but you do). Transmission took over an hour to complete.
Odd as mine all included within a couple of mins!
Although I must admit I never pay attention to what the lights are doing as I trigger the inclusion from within the dashboard, and then look at the status messages.
