What am I doing wrong? I can lock/unlock my kwikset lock from the vera UI5, but when I click the wrench, click pin codes, then walk over to my door and enter my pin nothing happens.
Is there something I’m doing wrong?

What do you mean by “but when I click the wrench, click pin codes…”
Your door should open once you enter the pin code.
You do not have to click on anything else…
Sorry for the confusion,
This is a new setup. I setup the pin codes through the vera interface.
I then went to the door lock, entered the pin and nothing. Door lock wouldn’t open. Now if I do the manual pin setup, the manual pin works, but when I add a pin through the vera, it never goes through.
Now I know the lock gets signal from the vera cuz I can lock/unlock the door lock from the vera.
Any thoughts?
Ah I see ![]()
I can try it later tonight. I usually set the pin codes at the door - never tried doing this using Vera…
Gotcha ![]()
From my understanding, we can only set 2 pins at the door, but via vera you can set up to 30? Also we can set expirations on the pins via vera?
I’m getting married in 2 weeks and having this down would be awesome so I can control when my family/out of town guests can come and go from my house.

Nice, congrats!
Yeah, you can set 2 pins on the door and the rest through Vera.
Not sure about pins expiring. I only have two set right now.
One for me and one for my wife.
Will try and set one tonight through Vera.
Alright…
I think I know what u mean.
So I have two codes manually entered.
If I enter one through Vera (code3) it does not work. However If I keep adding codes through Vera (code4) this code does work.
Try adding more codes and let me know if u see the same thing!

Once you set the PIN through the Vera UI, the Vera must transmit the codes to the lock. You should see this happen through the UI. You will see a blue circle and some text appear on the lock icon. Check that this process is occurring properly and no error appears. Also, once you have entered the PIN in the UI, close the lock settings then get back in and make sure the new PIN appears.
You can set expirations on PIN codes through Vera. After you enter the name for the PIN and the actual PIN, then select Daily from the Restrict Code drop down. Valid From and Valid To date fields will appear. Enter the appropriate dates and click Set Restriction. Close the Lock settings and click the red Save button.
See attached as an example.

The pin does get transmitted properly.
However - As noted above - for some reason Pin3 never works.

Wow that’s odd. I have 3 Kwikset locks and none of them have that problem.
Does the lock see the code as invalid (transmit a bad code notification), or does it just ignore it? I wonder if there is some conflict between the 3rd code and one of the previous.
It does not transmit a bad note notification.
Very strange… anyways, i can reproduce this on my 2 locks.
I played with mine a bit. I normally set all my codes through the Vera UI, but since you said you set the first 2 using the key pad I tried that and then entered the 3rd code through the UI. All the codes worked. :-\
I even entered the name for the 3rd code as ‘code3’ and that worked too. Thought maybe there was some weird naming issue going on (cant name the 3rd code code3).
Very strange!
Thanks for doing the testing!
I wonder if we will get some feedback from the OP soon.

Hello,
I am just wondering if you ever found out any more information on this? Was the verdict just that the 3rd code entered doesn’t work?
I also am wondering how the Mios recognizes the second digit on a key, vs how the lock does. For example, if my code has a “2” in it, do I press the “1-2” key once or twice? So if i enter on Mios the code “2222”, would I hit the “1-2” button 4 times, or eight times to unlock the door?
Thanks!
Jason

Jason[/quote]I don’t have a 3rd PIN in mine so I can’t help there, but you only press a button once for either number. So the code “2222” is the same as “1111” or “1212” etc. Any of those codes is just 4 presses of the “1/2” button.

Hi!
No, I wasn’t looking into this further. Apparently the third Pin does not work for me but all the others do. I really only need two pins so Im ok with this.
