Hi all,
being based in aus there are only a few major resellers of zwave tech here and hence price competitiveness is null and void.
I was just wondering if it’s possible to use vera3 with some power plugs from a different zwave frequency…

i.e. the ones you plug into an existing power point then your device plugs in to the end. the only reason i ask is that they’re about half the price in the states compared to here!

The frequencies for ZWave are different for EU, US and Australia

yes i was hoping there was a way to have a multiple-frequency implementation that would just work… alas…

I noticed you have ir blaster how do you find it? was it easy to configure in scenarios like press pause on a dvd and lights go on etc?

Each Vera unit has a similar ZWave chip that the devices have, so they’re coded to a certain frequency. We haven’t seen a single device support multiple dongles, but it might be possible to use Vera’s bridging functionality to join two distinct Vera units to get that (at a cost, of course). One V could then handle AU freqs/devices an the other would handle the US based ones.

There are a few folks with bridged devices and they may be able to give you some pointers.

For the IR I haven’t stitched in that type of scene. For the most part, it’s for native iPad app control of the AV (without Vera involvement) or for automation of AV on, or All-off type scenes.

I quite like the SQBlaster device, an it’s SQRemote iPad app. Nicely integrated. I also Beta test for them.

thanks so much for the reply! i guess ill start simple and work my way up to bridging! will have to have a look at the av stuff looks promising!

The usual disclaimer regarding multiple frequencies: do consider legal ramifications.
