IR Control to kick off a scene?

Hi all,

I’m new to the forum, and planning on getting a Vera3 in the near future. It looks like it will do everything I want it to, with one possible exception.

My plan is to have Vera control lights, etc from smart phones and tablets in my house. I would also like to be able to control my home theater equipment (likely through SQ Blaster), but I would also like to have a standard IR remote in the home theater locations as well. Is it possible to have some sort of IR receiver that passes commands back to Vera to trigger a scene. IE: pressing pause on the IR remote will send trigger Vera to turn on lights, pressing play will dim lights, etc.

I found one thread from a year ago that discussed this, and I believe a Vera developer said the code was written into Vera but commented out (unfortunately I can’t find this thread again), and I can’t seem to find a current thread with any further info.

In any case, is something like this possible, and if so, how do I do it? It’s the last piece of the puzzle I would like to figure out before I pull the trigger on a Vera.

That was over a year ago though. Any possibility this functionality has been added?

I don’t do it directly through Vera, but use a PC with IR receiver which talks to Vera to turn on the lights with pause, etc.

I was actually just thinking about that. How exactly do you do it? Do you use USBIRT? What do you use on the PC to send commands to Vera? I have a media server in my rack that will be right by the Vera unit, so this is definitely an option for me.

What do you use on the PC to send commands to Vera? I have a media server in my rack that will be right by the Vera unit, so this is definitely an option for me.
