Ipad APP

Hey square connect, still waiting for that iphone app to show up in the app store, but what about a nice hd app for the ipad since most of us are proud owners of one… ( at least i am)
i will pay of course, nothing is free

You might try to email them here: info@squareconnect.com
I think they may be to busy to monitor the forums here. Their app is in Apple’s hands now and I would think that it wouldn’t be that difficult to optimize it for iPad (I know iPad will run iPhone apps, but to make use of the extra screen size I think it wouldn’t take SQ Connect very long to layout new screens now that the underlying logic is there).

How do you like the iPad… I’m wondering how “magical” it really is (Apple’s fantastic marketing terms tend to bother me).

Hear hear! I would definitely like to see an iPad app for Vera – especially since Control4 has already released theirs.

Also, @shady… Yes, the iPad is truly magical.

The Square Connect app for Vera is now available on the iTunes App store!!!

Search for “SQ Remote” or click http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/square-connect-inc/id358848441

I have tried it on the iPad. Although we are working on a iPad specific enhancement, I find the iPhone version scales very well to the iPad.

Otherwise i’m going to wait a while i think…

Out of interest when does the RC we have expire?

Also we are still waiting on MCV to fix the IR control in UI3… :frowning:

I have no comment on whether we will charge extra for the iPad at this time… The version released today works really well on the iPad, but my list of enhancements and requests is already growing

If you are in the Beta program, expect new pre-release versions to continue to be released as we enhance the product from feedback and add the IR and enhanced audio-visual functionality.

Any chance that you will be allowing any new people into the beta program. Assuming some of the original people have dropped out, there should be some more room.

Send an email to john (at) squareconnect (dot) com. We will be looking for Testers for our IR solution - and will be giving a discount to testers on the new hardware. So if you are interested in adding some kick ass audio visual controls to your system, we have the solution coming.

I expressed my interest before on the DC forum for testing this so i’m up for it! As far as i’m concerned, the MCV solution just seems to be going nowhere (in fact more like backwards as it was working at one stage)

Currently, the SQ Remote app only supports landscape mode in a single orientation. This isn’t that big of a deal on the iPhone, because I can just turn the phone over if the app is upside down. However, for the iPad this is a bigger issue because the Apple case for the iPad includes a stand that orients the iPad in exactly the opposite direction as the SQ Remote app. So, as a result, I can’t use the SQ Remote app while the iPad is in its stand.

Would it be possible to make the app support landscape mode in either orientation?

You are right - it shouldn’t be a big deal to make it landscape in either orientation - and we didn’t expect it to be…, what stopped us was that the infrastructure in the iPhone messed up the layout of standard items when they were placed in landscape and then rotated.

This was not a problem for applications that start in portrait mode and then rotate. In particular the pickers were the ones that were really messing things up for us.

We believe that this has been resolved now, but we need to fully test this before including it in a release to make sure that it doesn’t break anything else. We will (in particular) be looking at this “because” of the orientation of the iPad in its frame… exacty the opposite rotation to the “standard” landscape position for the iPhone (Thanks Apple!)
