Inverter type AC control through thermostat or IR blaster

Hi guys,

While waiting for my new VeraLite to arrive, i decided to seek your help in automating AC work. I’m totally new to Home Automation, hence please bear with me.

I recently bought couple of inverter type split Airfel A/Cs (a Turkish company acquired by Daikin). I intend to switch the A/C on and off ideally based on temperature in the room, or as a workaround at certain times in day. As long as i understand i have two options:

  1. Programmable zWave thermostat. I could not find wiring manuals for the A/C and am not sure if the thermostats work with inverter type ACs. Would be grate if you could advise what thermostat to acquire and how to connect it.

  2. Some kind of IR blaster that would connect to Vera and send IR signals to AC units.

Thanks a lot.
Davit

Voltage is an issue when it comes to third party thermostats so be conscious of that. Typically split manufacturers will sell a wired and or wireless thermostat that communicates directly with the IDU (indoor unit). To my knowledge, the only internet capable split is the Mitsubishi unit via Red Link. However this might be what you’re looking for in regards to IR capability:
