Any know where to find an Intermatic Z-Wave InTouch Contactor Module CA3750. I would like to control my pool pump and hot water heater so I need something capable of 2220-240V control.
I know they discontinued this so I would like to find a new in stock or an equivalent product. :
I contacted numerous electrical supply houses across the country about a year ago with no success. It is a discontinued item, probably due to the z-wave device being contained inside a metal cabinet. Your best bet is to call around and maybe someone has one.
Another option is ELK who makes an enlosed cabinet with contacter that you could control with a 110v supply / Z-Wave module to switch any size load.
the zwave device was not in a metal box.
intermatic has been going through re-org and such.
I had heard at one time that some other Zwave company was to pick up this product.
Intermatic has released a new product that may fit your needs.
look at threir pool control products.
The new controller from Intermatic is the PE653. It can manage 5 relays of pool controls. It comes with the PE953 remote which can also be used to control 5 other zwave scenes. It is much more sophisticated than the CA3750 since it has built in timers and other features.
As of today, the only feature you can control on the Vera is the first relay to turn on/off the filter pump. (You can actually control all 5 relays via Vera but 2-5 are not getting feedback yet.)
I have been working with their developers and MCV developers to expose more of the controls. The ball is in Intermatic’s court and they are in contact with me several times a week. I just got an email today stating that they are pretty sure to soon have Vera communicate with all the relays and the heat pump settings/readings as well. I think they can do a firmware upgrade to handle the change. I will be posting something back here as soon as it is ready.
The CA3750’s work well enough for simple projects if you can still find them. When Wayne Dalton bought the old line of Zwave products from Intermatic I think they dumped production of the CA3750. The CA3750 does have some issues with weak signals depending on where you locate the device.
I am still waiting to here when the PE653 will be ready to run off of the Vera. Right now it will still only turn on and monitor your filter pump. (You need the PE953 to control everything else locally). The nice thing about the unit is that the antenna is detachable and can be relocated with a Cat5/6 cable run. So you can the the signal as strong as you need.
I thought ACT or someone else had a 220v switch unit but I can’t seem to find it now.
Since the 3750 are not available anymore and there is no known time when and if it will be I would sugest the new product from intermatic.
It could be cheaper to use modules or switches to control the pump with vera but I don’t think you will get proper load sensing or operation. Meaning you will not be able to tell if a load is actually on.
I’m looking at the PE653RC with the P4243ME. I spoke to the folks at Intermatic today and they said they are still working on getting it working with Vera, it’s a low-cost automation option even without Vera so having Vera talk to it eventually would be the icing on the cake!
Is it possible to simply use a generic contactor in combination with a Z-wave appliance module to trigger a 120v plunger? It would be a cheap option. For about $100 you could get a box, contactor, appliance module and all the hardware.
It IS possible to use an appliance module to trigger a contactor for switching higher currents or loads. For average current or loads use the appliance module directly.
Yes you can build your own and I did. I purchased a water tight enclosure 8"X8"X6" and installed a contactor and appliance module. I purchased a 40 amp contactor because of my load. It works perfectly.
Also, be mindful that most pool pumps are switchable to 110v or 115v if that helps with anyone’s solution. They have a toggle switch inside the back plate where the power connects.
