Integrating Samsungs new Jungfrau(Y-series) Aircon into Vera

Integrating Samsung?s new Jungfrau(Y-series) Aircon into Vera

Hi Out there,

Has anyone looked into integrating Samsung?s new smart aircon into Vera, the new range has build in Wi-Fi which can be controlled via an IOS or Android app directly or over the internet. The initial setup is done through the Samsung Smart Appliance website. Any help in point me in the correct direction would be great.

You might want to look and see if Samsung is offering an open API to their mini-split units. I have the same dilemma (as do many) with my 3 Mitsubishi units - a Honeywell Redlink wireless controller that can be accessed with my iPad/iPhone and Android but no open API. There are alternate solutions (i.e. Tado, Logitech Harmony Hub, Remotec etc.) if you decide to take that route.

Thanks for the feedback, will do a little more scouring of the internet to see if I can find anything. Doesn’t look like there is much information out there on these units.

Yes, a lot of these units are simply proprietary (voltage; interface) and have no open API’s. I simply want to control the units directly and not have to issue/request information via a Web Service.

I have 3 MHK1 Honeywell thermostats (@ $200+ each; very old looking unit) with a Redlink Gateway (an additional $100 but supports multiple MHK1’s) and I can’t control any of it via Home Automation. With the kick starter of Tado https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tado/tado-cooling-intelligent-a-c-control, a device could be controlled for $99 $149 each. I don’t believe Tado will publicly provide the API initially, but it can be acquired if someone on here opt’s into their developers package ($299 I believe). I believe that I also read somewhere that Tado is working with Apple on their Home Kit.

Thanks for this addtional information, its been a while since I did any scripting, going to have to get up to speed as there are a number of projects that I wish to automate and not to many apps

Thank you!
