Insteon Keypadlic - no scene controller device

Has anyone had any luck getting the inteon Keypadlic to show up as a scene controller? i get the dimmable switch to show up but the scene controller (the rest of the buttons) which seems like it should appear is not appearing.

Thanks for any help.

I had an Insteon KeypadLinc in my last house and was annoyed by the same thing. What I found was, except for the button controlling the load, each Insteon KeypadLinc button had to be paired with some other Insteon device in order for home automation software to see that a button was pushed. And really the HA software had no idea the KeypadLinc button was pushed, it was just responding to the change in state on the paired device.

I linked most of the buttons to other Insteon switches; however, I had some buttons that I wanted to use as indicators for events. I like the idea of having certain modes for my house (party mode, movie time, so on) and based on the mode, scenes run or don’t run at their designated times. For example, ordinarily the pool landscape lighting and light by the back door do not come on at dusk; however, in Pool Mode those lights come on when the Sunset scene runs.

To get around the problem of not seeing the other buttons, I ended up purchasing the cheapest Insteon appliance modules I could find and just plugged them in anywhere I could find a spare outlet. Then I paired the otherwise unused appliance modules to the KeypadLinc buttons. I used appliance modules because they did not require a load like some modules do. This was an expensive and clumsy solution, but its all I could come up with.

hmm… i tried the steps here http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Insteon_Scene_Controllers which sure makes it sound like it shout work.

Pairing with the PLM didn’t seem to enable KeypadLinc button status reporting, but then I had an older PLM, so perhaps Insteon has made improvements.

Ahh. At the moment my PLM has fallen off th radar, Vera does not think it is connected and clicking “enable” on the insteon screen says “network created” but does nothing. If my PLM ever shows up again I will try your suggestion. /sigh/
