Insteon Fanlinc (under altsteon) - dimmer shows up as ? in the app

I’ve got a few Insteon devices, and I’m using altsteon on my Vera in place of the built-in Insteon “support”. Everything works fine on the web console - there’s a root device with 2 child devices, one is a dimmer for the light and the other is the fan control, and I can operate both normally. In AutHomation, however, I can only control the fan - the dimmer shows up as a question mark on all three of my Android devices (Galaxy S3, Nexus 7, O.G. Galaxy S). I’ll forward my user_data2 to the email listed on authomation.net in case this isn’t a simple fix - the root device ID is 56, the dimmer is 57, and the fan control is 58.

Thanks in advance! Aside from this small issue, I really love the app and I’m constantly amazed at how great it works.

I know for a fact that this was working in my app. I was running altsteon for well over a year with suppport in my app and the fanlinc motor and light working. I am currently not running altsteon right now as I am using an ISY994i controller. I see you just sent me your user data, I’ll see what is going on and why it is not working anymore in the app.

That’s great, thank you! I’ve repurposed a few of my old Android phones and mounted them on the wall to use with AutHomation instead of traditional scene controllers/wall remotes and this was the last piece of the puzzle for me.

Josh,

I think I found the issue. In the past the insteon devices wrote the category_num variable for each device. It looks like the dimmable light device did not write the appropriate category (e.g. category 2). I added the appropriate device type for altsteon fanlinc light. It will be available in the next beta and play store release in the near future.

That’s great - thanks again for looking into this! I’m subscribed to the beta so I’ll report back after the next release.

Garrett-

Did you have a chance to add that fix to the current beta release? If you haven’t gotten to it yet that’s fine, I just wanted to check in and see since there have been a few beta releases and my Fanlinc dimmer still shows up as a question mark. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Is there any way I can edit the device so that it shows up correctly in Authomation? I’m willing to help however I can but I don’t really know where to start. I’m a pretty experienced Linux admin but as far as the Vera stuff is concerned I’m still a bit of a noob.

Thanks!

Josh,

I apologize. I thought i added support in the 3.1 branch. I just realized it was only added to the 3.2 branch I am working on. I sent you a pm with a link to a new beta. Can you give that a go and let me know if that works.

That did it! Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
