I hope someone has done this and can help… I wanted to be able to control a ceiling fan and a light so I purchased a Powerlinc modem 2413U and a Fan Linc… I had no issues making the Vera Lite and the modem talk and no problem pairing the light and the Modem and Vera Lite… but it will not add the second control for the fan…I can dim the light turn it on and off etc… I have removed it and added it several times but cant get the fan to show up either as a fan or another dim able light… I’m willing to try almost anything… I have looked at the Alsteon instruction and although I run a large computer network for a living I’m confused as to how to install it on a Vera Lite… Thanks in advance for the help…
Did you disable the native Insteon support in the “Setup Up” → “Insteon Settings”? I don’t have this setup yet myself, but I am about to and from what I have read that seems to be the most common problem.
Chris, can you explain what you mean? I was under the impression that Insteon support still needed to be enabled even though Alsteon was going to be present too. Am I incorrect?
The built in insteon support must be disabled in order to use altsteon, otherwise both of them will fight over accessing the plm.

That explains A LOT!
ChrisV, report back if you get it working and how it went. I have 5 ceiling fans with lights that I want to do this with after reading one of the forum members comparing it and the price versus the pure Z-Wave way.
From what I remember the biggest cost was the first fan where you had to purchase the modem then each Fan only cost about $70 after that.
Does the FanLinc come with the wall controller with the On/Off for the light and the On/Off/Low/Med/High for the ceiling fan?
I have several fanlincs, not hooked up to fans yet, but running on my test bench for the last year (still need to pick out fans). They have been added to my insteon network and work fine. In order to control them you’ll need to use use it with a keypad linc or a remotelinc for physical control. I will be purchasing a few more soon as I’ll be picking out and installing the ceiling fans before the hot weather arrives.

FWIW, I have two fanlincs in operation. One is controlled by two 6 button KPLs, the other is controlled by one 6 button KPL and two 8 button KPLs. I installed them shortly after the Fanlincs were originally released, and aside from confusing my in-laws they have worked great.
