Insteon - EZ Flora use?

I recently added Insteon capability to my system and have a 2450 I/O Linc which appears to function well. I purchased an Irrigation Controller (EZFlora) hoping I can use it for sprinkler system and landscape lighting purposes, rather than multiple I/O Linc units

I am able to add it (somewhat) but it shows up only with a lightbulb icon and on/off commands - does anyone have any experience using and configuring this - can you provide some direction and assistance?

Thanks!

From my experience with Vera / Insteon / X-10 all devices are added as a single device. The choices for that device would be either an appliance module (on/off) or a dimmer.
This sprinkler controller is an 8 zone unit? I’m assuming you added it to Vera using a single address? Which then generated that one device?
You would need to add 7 additional virtual devices with the address for each zone. Zone A1-A8 (as an example)
Each device would then have the on / off control for each zone.

JOD.

Yes - when added it shows as a single device. (ON/OFF) Is there some “coaching” I can get to add the 7 virtual devices to make this work? When I added the I/O Linc it (as documented in the Wiki) shows up automatically as a sensor AND a relay…I have been playing with the EZFlora but have been unsuccessful to date.
Any help is MUCH appreciated!

I dont know anything about this device to help you with a step by step but let me ask this. Are you atleast able to control one of the 8 zones with the address you added the device with?

You added the device with the address A1 as an example? One device = One controlled zone? If so the EZ Flora just needs 7 additional devices each with their own address.
Add Insteon device, new address A2 (example) for zone 2. Etc.

JOD.

EtherRain FTW

I too have been trying to get an ezflora to work but no luck so far …

There is a tool from simplehomenet that allows you to set up 4 programs in the ezflora, and allow one of them to be activated in response to an “on” command from an insteon controller. I was hoping to do that, but I always get a timeout when the “on” command is sent. By contrast, “off” commands are received and acknowledged just fine. Is that the behavior you see too?

Also, is the luup code for the iolinc device (if in fact that’s how iolinc is supported) available anywhere? I’m interested in trying to support the ezflora with a plugin, but I need an example from which to start.
