Insteon 2413U

I cannot get my Vera to see the Insteon PowerLinc Modem. I am positive that Insteon/X10 is enabled. I’ve tried using the Wizard to find it and I’ve used the “add device” from the dashboard. The Vera Router and the PowerLinc modem are plugged into the same powerstrip so it’s not a matter of them not being able to communicate through the powerlines.

Any guidance I can get to connect the modem to vera through Vera’s usb port would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kathy

You do have the powerlinc physically connected to the vera unit correct?

Yes, it is plugged into the Vera router with a USB/Fire Wire connector.

Is the PLM in the correct port?
to check, - hit the Ineteon device icon
In the dialog box, go to the “more options” tab.

the port will say /dev/usb/tts/0 or /dev/usb/tts/1 this must match the USB port used

The PLM will not communicate with Vera when plugged into a powerstrip, unless it’s one without the built in surge protection circuitry.

It will also suffer from communication problems with some transformer based devices plugged in on the same circuit, UPS, laptop power supplies etc…

Try plugging the PLM directly into an outlet and be aware of other devices that may be on that same circuit.

JOD.

Yes - the PML needs to have no filtering that most surge protectors give. I did test mine out on a $5 poerstrip with no protection - that worked OK.
