Instant Response from Aeon MultiSensor

Hello,

I have an iRule/Itach and VeraLite system. I’m using the VeraLite for lighting part. I have a Z-Wave Door Contact triggering a scene that turns on a light it almost instantly. After muddling the the inclusion process of the Aeon Multisensor ( I like it’s small size), I’m trying to use a motion trigger to trigger a scene to turn another light on. It works but it takes @ 8 seconds for it to turn on verses the almost instant response from the door contact. Does the motion detector need to be USB powered for quick response? Anyone have any thoughts-ideas-recommendations? Should I have selected another brand motion detector?

Thanks for any input.

I have one that exhibits a similar delay, however, it’s only on one light which has a dimmer attached, the other is directly switched into downlights and doesn’t appear to have a significant delay. I placed the blame on using a PLEG to control it and I suspect that there is a time lag between it coming out of sleep mode, sending the trigger and running the PLEG Scene.
This might create the delay you and I are observing.

I’m planning on powering via the USB (it’s located next to a old 12v PIR) and test one against the other.

I don’t want to hijack the thread with what I’m going to ask next, how can I best power it from 12v?

I have a battery-powered Aeon 4-in-1 Multisensor that gives almost instant response for motion triggers. It could be a Z-Wave routing issue slowing it down. Is it far from Vera?

No worries, I would suggest taking apart a 12v automotive USB adapter.

It’s a hallway away from the Vera, However there are four other Z-Wave switches in the area and they work properly.

How did you set up the trigger, maybe I missed something.

The Multisensor is setup as: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,3831.msg102469.html#msg102469

I use a PLTS to handle triggers from the Multisensor. An example PLTS report is attached. Note this uses a second PLTS to bypass the Multisensor for ten seconds after it wakes up to reduce false triggers. The report for this (Delay10) is also attached.

The bypass-on-wakeup can also be achieved without the second PLTS using: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,3831.msg101455.html#msg101455

Thank you for the replies. I got it working perfectly (LOL for now).

I have another issue with removing an device from Vera that I’ll address in the Getting Started thread.

Care to share your “fix”.
