Hi. I have a vera3 controller running UI17, updated to V 1.7.569.
I’m wanting for Vera/MicasaVerde info explaining the reality of such units being managed via cloud as opposed to purely locally. I’ve found various forum/wiki pages on this topic, including ones that explain how to manually configure the network settings to operate in a more local-friendly manner, but there are still various uncertainties:
[ol][li]I previously setup the network manually around 6 months ago, and while I kinda had it working, I found some aspects that didn’t, resulting in config re-load and back to the cloud based management topology again. Since my intention was fairly straight forward (get it on local LAN subnet and wifi disabled, with management done via that direct IP address) , and it did get messy, I assumed either I was trying to do things not desired by the makers of vera3, or there were bugs in the system, which might now be fixed. [/li]
[li]While I’m sure that my latest-firmware vera3 can operate properly without an internet connection (for access to mios.com servers), it would be useful to get some definite indication from them as to what is and isn’t expected to work.[/li]
[li] What is the expectation about ones ability to manage their vera when home.getvera.com is not accessible? Surely some sort of fallback should be provided naturally so users can still connect directly to their unit in this scenario[/li]
[li] In terms of cloud interaction when managing ones vera, I would rather connect directly to my vera and then it talk to mios.com servers in the background (if it can see them) rather than having to use mios.com servers for EVERYTHING.[/li]
[li]In terms of info about these things, I can’t see anything official, and the things I can see (forums/wiki) are mostly dating back to 2011/2012 on earlier UI versions (UI16 and earlier) so I’m not even sure how relevant they are for UI17.[/li][/ol]
