I read every searchable VistaCam thread...

Well, Just hooked up my new VistaCam and Vera 3 recognizes it as a Foscam on my dashboard, but there’s no video image?
I followed the simple 1 page instructions along with the link to the online instructions. No image and no video.

I also read every thread with keyword Vistacam and no info. Seems to be common, but don’t see any solutions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Even though there’s no image nor video with the cam on my dashboard and devices, I went ahead and proceeded with wireless set up and what do you know? I can view and control it online.
However, still no video or image in my UI5 dashboard no image or video in Ivera app. It does however, come up on SQremote.

What gives? It has to be some sort of setting in UI5.

Secret,
I’m having an identical issue with my new camera and like you I’ve followed all the troubleshooting guides as well. Did you ever manage to resolve your issue and if so, what did you have to do? Was it a change within the Vera configuration or something within the camera? Also, I should have exported the camera settings from within the web interface before I started troubleshooting as now I’m not sure how far off the pre-provisioned settings the camera may be…

Same exact problem with mine. Let me know if there is any resolution.

It might help others with your issue if you post the info in Vera from your Advanced tab for the camera.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and get the same result. There are the advanced settings.

I had changed the impl file last night to what you had and it was kind of working, but I couldn’t get it to work over the phone app and it would repeatedly lose the image after about 20 seconds. Made the plug in change you suggested and it’s working now. Thanks! These are the current settings.

In all the changes I tried, I’ve ended up with a “Foscam Camera Motion Sensor” on my devices. I’m afraid to try to delete it.

I had the same issue, and I did what arollin posted:

  1. Manually downloading the plugin app “VistaCam SD, PT & HD for UI5”
  2. Changing the “impl_file” to “I_VistaCamPT.xml”
  3. Changing the “plugin” to “3866”

This fixed the problem with seeing a camera image and being able to manipulate it.

However - The motion sensor feature doesn’t seem to be working, and so I cannot archive a photo when the motion sensor is tripped. Any suggestions for this?

Based on info from this forum, I was able to change the xml and plugin id to get the Vistacam PT to work with my Veralite - also changed the port and password successfully (Gotcha: changing the password removes the port #, so do the password first then repeat with port #!!).

Still not got the motion sensor working as others have pointed out but looking at the camera’s alarm settings page it appears that the alarm url that is to be sent to the veralite is being truncated which could explain why the notification doesn’t get back:

Required URL: http://:3840/data_request?id=lr_camera_tripped&sensor_id=<sensor#>
In the camera UI: http://:3840/data_request?id=lr_camera_tripped&sens

Even of you type the whole URL in it gets truncated again when you submit it.

First off, thank you dbuonado. your simple sum up of steps to take to fix the camera worked! the video is still a little buggy as it will sometimes at random decide it doesn’t want to show but it works most of the time so I’m logging that as success. More importantly , has anyone found a fix to the problem of when viewing the camera through the vera mobile app (i’m running android), I get the message “Incorrect camera configuration for video streaming, running in Emulation Mode” .

Major thanks to dbuonado and arollin for their information and tips. I got a VistaCam PT for Christmas, and as I imagine is the case for most, it was autodetected by Vera and associated with the Foscam plugin. While that plugin worked OK, trying to pan or tilt the cam resulted in it moving to the extreme of each direction (so hitting the pan right button would cause the camera to turn all the way to the right, rather than pan a few degrees).

Having seen the Vistacam plugin, I figured I could just remove the device, remove the Foscam plugin, add the Vistacam plugin, and then re-add the device. That was clearly a mistake, since it wouldn’t ever add the device unless I did it through the develop apps screen, and then it didn’t work. So, I restored from a backup from a few days ago, let my Vera3 autodetect it just like it did the first time (I had to power cycle the camera, though I was able to leave it on wireless). Then I followed the three steps dbuonado summed up and boom, not only did the camera work as expected, it autoinstalled a motion detection device associated with it.

I’m also glad to see that someone was able to change the password and port, since the “no password” setting was pushing me toward thinking about returning it no matter how well everything else works

Your welcome shanew!

Were you able to get the motion sensing feature to actually work with your Vera3? On my VeraLite, the motion device panel auto-installed on the MiOS control page, but it’s not actually working, i.e. it does not detect motion.

Haha,

I was just coming back to this thread to see if anyone had simple instructions on getting the motion detector plugin working, so no @dbuonado I haven’t gotten it working yet (though I also haven’t spent much time on it either).

Has anyone gotten the motion detection to work?

I have had a support ticket open with Vera since December 27, 2013 and will update this thread as soon as Vera’s tech support responds and is able to resolve this issue.

I recently bought a veralite, a door sensor and a vistacamsd and I cannot find a forum to help me. I am able to view the camera from my Samsung S3 but I keep getting a message “incorrect camera configuration for video streaming, running in emulation mode”. I am also not able to get a video from the camera when the sensor trips. The notification comes a day later when the door is tripped. I am also trying to record at point and my sd card doesnt fit. Can someone advise me as this purchase is not working out for me

Has anyone resolved the issue of the VistaCam HD’s motion sensor not working? Read the posts (and learned a great deal about Vera/Lua, but nothing on motion on the VisatCam), worked with the camera settings directly …nothing.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

I’m stuck at this point as well. The Vera Mobile App (ver. 1.9.107) offers me no means of actually controlling my VistaCamPT (it does seem to update snapshots every few seconds), and I get that same configuration error message: “Incorrect camera configuration for video streaming, running in Emulation Mode.”

I suppose I could route an external port to the camera itself and use the web interface, but that utterly defeats the purpose of the Vera Mobile App in the first place. In fact, it has nothing at all to do with the Vera system if I do that. It’d be like having any ole IP cam. But I digress. Anyone know how to properly configure this for streaming on the android app? and how to take control of the camera with the mobile app?

I use the app “AutHomation” to control the Vera and VistaCamPT and it works fairly well. Some delay in the image loading when connecting via a mobile data network but otherwise good.

Still no word yet back from Vera Tech Support on the motion sensor feature of the VistaCamPT…
