Huge delay when using a light switch as a scene trigger

Equipment:

Both z-wave devices were added to my Vera using the Generic Device option, since I couldn’t find these specific products in the device list.

I tried to set up a scene in the Vera UI as follows:

  • TRIGGER: Whenever the GE12722 is turned ON. (No restrictions added.)

  • DEVICE ACTIONS: Immediately turn the RF9540-NAW dimmer ON to 100% brightness; Send notification to me.

So then I go to test this triggered scene. When I turn the GE12722 on manually by pushing the switch, the light it’s connected to turns on immediately (of course), but it takes as long as 60 seconds for the RF9540-NAW to turn on and the notification to be sent. Why is there this huge delay?

I assume the GE12722 is not immediately reporting to the Vera hub that it was turned on? Is there a way to fix this? It makes the trigger kind of useless.

Thank you so much for any insight!!!

To resolve the issue your choices are to:
a. move Vera closer to the GE12722

b. Replace the GE12722 with a switch that supports Instant Status, such as the Cooper switches.

Thanks so much z-waver - I like it when things make sense lol.

Mind you, why the GE model still doesn’t have Instant Status in 2015 makes less sense!

I just tested the same setup in reverse (with the Cooper switch as the trigger) and it was, indeed, instant.

Now to play trivial pursuit to post this reply…
