What was the previous price? This “reduced” price still seems pretty high, to me.

Any of my older HSM100s I ever bought were in the $75 range.
However they list anywhere from $74 up to $95 online.

Looks like they are normally $59.99 on amazon.

I got 2 at $49.99 each, and then another $4.00 off each (cause I bought >2 ) for a total of $90.00 ($45.00 each)

On another note, what type of A/C power adapter is needed for these? I ordered two sensors and would like to get some power adapters coming as well.

Do they use a usb type connection inside or a standard round connector? I am assuming they need 4.5V, but how many amps are required?

Does not have a socket (USB or round)… to me its a poor design. A lot of people don’t like cutting wires and and having to deal with polarity and such.

  1. Obtain a USB power supply that has +5VDC output with 500mA (or greater) output
  2. Cut the USB connector off
  3. There are usually 4 wires in a USB connector - Black, Red, Green and White
  4. The Black is usually Ground (0V)
  5. The Red is usually +5VDC - measure with a multi-meter to be sure
  6. Cut off the other 2 wires - not needed
  7. Strip back the red and black wires and insert into the blue power block on the back of the EZMotion
  8. The black wire goes in the hole next to the hole in the PCB and the red goes in the other one
  9. A small flat-head screw driver is needed to screw in screws - make sure the wires are tight

So any REGULATED 5v dc supply > 500ma will work. You just need to cut connector, strip wires and screw in to terminal strip.

Thanks for the information. Was wondering if you could be more specific regarding “The black wire goes in the hole next to the hole in the PCB?” I fried the HSM100 in the past by reversing the polarity of the wires. The hole in the PCB board you are referring to is the PCB mounting post with the white plastic frame? Please confirm. Thanks

They have had that promotion on the S3 a few times over the last months.

In addition to the steps from the Vera-specific instructions quoted by @Les F, the generic guide has a picture of how to do the wiring.

#oTi@, Thanks for the picture… I just got mine in yesterday and haven’t had time to crack open the units. Looking forward to installing these next weekend.

How well do these work when on battery? I don’t plan to write anything in. I currently use Schlage motion sensors which work very well. But it would be nice to have temperature sensors in the rooms

I have about 7 of them in my home, all running on battery. And I am very very happy with these. But other users have reported bad experiences. I have the OnTime (Time Until Sensor Reports No Motion Back to Vera) set to 2 minutes on most of them, and with that setting they are running since more than a year.

Or what do you wish to know? Reporting of Light Level and Temperature seems fine too. See example of DataMine light level and temp. of 2 devices attached.
