I’m looking to add another HRT4-ZW to my home set up, but I’d like to explore linking it to a Relay Switch rather that the ASR-ZW (as the current one I have set up, seems to be the weakest link).
Has anyone done this (I know Intveltr has, so I hope he can contribute too) as I would like to capture the exact steps (1 by 1) and also understand how they might differ when installing the HRT4-ZW & ASR-ZW combo. e.g how to group etc.
Setting up the thermostat with a Fibaro or other switch is similar to setting up with the ASR:
- include the thermostat and Fibaro into Vera’s network
- in the Vera UI, manually associate the thermostat to the Fibaro switch on group 2
- set the thermostat to L and tell Vera to configure the device.
Be aware that you can only associate the thermostat with the Fibaro’s parent device, thus only control the first of the two relays.
Thanks Intveltr
A few quick questions.
I take it, this is because I already have one HRT4-ZW running on Group 1?
Is that assuming I’m using the 21.5kw Fibaro Relay?
Is it a non issue if you are using a 13kw Fibaro Relay?
Once installed, I assume I then need to follow the process of configuring it by adding the 3 device options to the HRT4-ZW etc.
While, i have you, did you see the recent post I made on the main HRT4-ZW page, where i linked to a document that detailed a slightly different installation procedure for thermostat? I.e. There was no mention of adding those 3 device options etc.?
As you seem very familiar with these I would be interested in your thoughts on that.
And finally I’m sure I read somewhere that the ASR-ZW also acts as an override for one hour if you hit the on button? Is that true or am I just making that up in my head…
