How do I turn off the WIFI on Vera ? It’s currently on (although the wifi light is not illuminated (I believe a software bug)).
There are options in the wifi tab but none that appear to be a straight forward “off” function. I don’t need the wifi on.

You will need to go to the advanced tab in your UI’s toolbox section.
From there select the Net & WiFi tab, scroll down and tick WiFi ON: NO (currently YES is ticked)
Thats all
You must have a check box that some of us do not have. I am running 1.1.1245, and I do not have such a check box on my UI in that tab. I assume that the op does not either.
I too would like to turn off the wifi, but have not found a way to do that.

@holger and @mzpost
The checkbox is there, in version 1.1.1047 as wel as 1.1.1245
I have added screenshots to help you out.
Let me know if you got it to work
Near the top of the “Net & Wi-fi” page, do you have something other than automatically configure selected? Those options do not seem to be available with automatically configure.
Good call, i checked all options for their functionality.
ONLY in the settings within the green circle (see attachment) it is possible to shutt off the WiFi radio.
(i dont understand why this is possible for Vera acting as a wireless bridge, since the functionality needs WiFi there, but thats besides the point here.)
Automatically configured (red circle in the attachment) does not allow any changes be made to vera’s network settings.
So if you want to shut down WiFi, the best option is either:
directly to the internet, MiOS is a gateway
Through another gateway on my network, MiOS is a switch.
You can turn off the wireless radio in 1.1.1245 without changing the automatically configure setting by clicking the link for Advanced Configuration in the upper right-hand corner of the Net & Wi-Fi tab. This will open a new browser window with a different GUI interface that can be used for management and configuration.
Just log in as the root user with your unit’s password. After successful log in, you will be presented with a welcome message. Then, just use the drop-down menus in the top-left corner to navigate to Network >> Wi-Fi. Once there, just un-check the box for Enabled and save. I did this on mine and can verify that I no longer see the Vera wireless network on my wireless devices.

BEGINNER
You are correct, but for less experienced users this can become confusing. I would recommend my descriptions as they are easy to follow for just about any user.
ADVANCED
For those who want to be able to tinker more with Vera’s routing functionality (after all shes basically a Router with Z-wave capabilities) use @OtisPreslsy’s tip.
I have found that there are issues with going this route. Even though you save the changes, the Wi-Fi will be re-enabled and broadcasting the specified SSID the next time Vera restarts. I have also noticed that when you disable Wi-Fi this way, it still broadcasts but just with a blank SSID. There are definitely some bugs to be worked out here.

I can confirm that. I had disabled the wifi through the Advanced gui last month. I had thought all was good but just checked and indeed it is again broadcasting. I have now used the regular gui to disable by changing from auto configure to gateway.
