It is finally time for me to start using this great plugin.
But after installing it, it does not work (does not log, and scale is off, only get a blank line @ 9999989.1), and I suppose this is because I have not selected where to save the logs to.
When I installed the dataMine, I had USB logging enabled, and I guess this might be the root cause, since I have read about incompatibilities between the two, so I disabled USB logging.
But should I follow the older guide on the wiki, or how should I proceed to mount/make use of the USB stick?
Currently my dataMine mount settings are empty except /dataMine/ are specified as DataDirectory. Mountpoint/manualMount/type/location are empty.
From the dataMine GUI, you should be able to select the “Configuration” tab. Then select a device/service/variable that you want to log, and on the right side of the pane there’s “EnableLogging” in the properties box - set this to true.
This should start logging, and once data has been received (ie after the variable has changed a couple of times) you should be able to graph the data. Before that, you will still get the -99999989.1 number you mentioned - that just means there’s no current data (I’m changing the way this works, but that’s what it currently means).
Did something change in the way logging works after the upgrade? My logging stopped working and after looking at the usb stick it turned out to be full. After deleting many files it won’t start working again.
Now I messed around too much and not sure anymore what my origam settings where…
Do I need to create a dataMine directory on the stick?
Can you also confirm if the data logging to usb (from the vera setup ui) should be dis- or enabled?
No - nothing changed with the fundimental way logging is done. Some of the settings changed, but this was seemless to the user.
You shouldn’t create a dataMine directory on the stick. The data will be in the root of the USB stick - it’s just that when it is used in Vera, it gets mapped into the /dataMine directory (linux has a different model for mounting drives that Windoze).
Don’t enable log file logging to the USB stick. This can cause strange stuff to happen. If you really want/need to do this, then it can be done, but you need to configure dataMine a bit differently.
Sorry, but I do not get the Configuration tab.
Vera 3
dataMine 0.965[/quote]
Strange - I’m not sure why the config tab would not show up. Can you confirm what you see when you open the dataMine GUI - maybe attach a screendump so I can see what it looks like?
No probs - this is normal. The config tab was removed from UI5 a few versions back. All configuration is now done in the dataMine GUI - it has its own configuration tab and everything is done there. The UI5 config tab was very limited in what could be done - the dataMine GUI provides a lot more real-estate so I can add more options…
